Thanks again Robert for doing all the work while we did the reading. Loved seeing the winners. It is always a pleasure to be part of the process, even if my favorite book did not win. So glad Wellness made it all the way. A real surprise of a book and so good. All the winners are well deserved.

I couldn’t make it for the live. I am not at all surprised that King won the nonfiction. It is well deserved. I am pleasantly surprised that The Underworld made the top 3. This was a great year in the nonfiction division. Thanks Robert for all your great work!

I couldn’t watch live, but wanted to drop by and say I really enjoyed my first year judging! I read quite a few books I might not have otherwise and it really increased my nonfiction reading which was great! Bummed that We Were Once A Family didn’t win, but the three non fics that were picked were excellent. For fiction, I was bored out of my mind with Tom Lake, but I enjoyed Wellness and The Bee Sting. I wish Enter Ghost would’ve been swapped for Tom Lake.

I am glad that you had a great reading year for the BookTube Prize! I really enjoyed judging when I did three rounds in 2020 and one round in 2022, but I had a lot on my plate this year and felt I would not be able to properly commit. We rebooted discussions on our channel, I took on a list of Mock Newbery List from Goodreads, and I joined a traditional book club, as well as took place in several Silent Book Clubs that I really enjoy attending. I was still interested in seeing which books made the finals and won and while I have read none of them, based on the summaries, I found the nonfiction to be especially engaging and I might keep them in mind as I put together our discussion schedule for future seasons. King, Master Slave, Husband and Wife, and Eve especially interest me, and I would say The Underworld catches my attention, too. From what I gather about King, I am really inclined to look into that, especially since time is beneficial for any given subject, for it provides the opportunity to build upon the research that has been completed as well as the ability for new research to be completed. We Were Once a Family and How to Say Babylon do seem to fulfill what they set out to fulfill. Based on the summaries, The Bee Sting is the fictional work I would most be inclined to pick up. Again, I really enjoy what you continue to do and really hope the BookTube Prize continues indefinitely. I would like to judge again in the future, but if I were to decide today, it will likely not be in 2025. Thank you for sharing and for keeping such an amazing book prize going! -Josh

@@BookTubePrize I apologize; I wasn't exactly complaining though. I have autism and I'm not the best at expressing mysef. There are small noises throughout that sound like they are made by the mouth that can be very stressful for people who have misophonia. It's not meant as a criticism, though. The people I know who have misophonia and are able to identify their auditory triggers know it's not the person's fault, but it's the perception of those noises that affect us and stress us out. I was merely pointing out that there are tiny noises throughout that may trigger sensitivities for those who have misophonia. I mean it only as a warning and not as a criticism. Aside from this recording, certain noises like chewing noises are often triggers for misophonia. These noises are what people make dailty in their effort to live. It's a noise that everyone makes at one point or another. However, some people with misophonia cannot tolerate the stress this brings. It's not on that person to cease eating to appease the person with misophonia, though. It's the person with misophonia to take precautions, like with ear devices like Calmer Ear plugs (what I personally use), to help control the amount of noise that is registered so everyone can live in harmony and tolerance can be had by all. I didn't mean to cause distress or appear negative. I just wanted to give a general warning to those who might have the same response as I did. My calmer ear plugs made the experience a wonderful one and I greately appreciate the care and effort that you put into curating this list and finding out which were the stand-outs of the entire group. I adore literature and found this video helpful in pointing me in the direction of more books to read that I should love as so many of the ones listed were ones I've enjoyed greatly over the past 12 months.

James is eligible for NEXT year's prize. Our eligibility is determined by the publication date. A book published in 2024 is considered for the 2025 prize. For Matrix, do you mean the Lauren Groff novel? That was published in 2021 and was in our field in 2022.
