I use this very same cutting approach for the general grabbers that come on the element sendero HD. Nice technique on removing tires!

I've only unglued one set and they were duratrax and u weren't lying. If Traxxas is worse then I'm glad they didn't glue the sport kit tires

Nice! I've had great luck with my cut and siped Canyon Trails mounted on a nice set of alum wheels. They are one of the best stock tires that I have tried.

Thank you for showing how you de-bond the tires! I've seen a couple ways and (as someone with a heat gun) this looks like the most straight forward. It was also great to see the before & after performance of the Canyon Trails on the Colonel. Of course I am curious which had the biggest influence on performance between the tire mods, foams, and steel wheels, but this seems like a case where the upgrade as a system is more than worth it. As someone that went and watched your video question of camera angles and composition, I certainly appreciate the effort. It gives us a sense of how steep or challenging the tests can be

Yeah, I think the "modded" Canyon Trails on the stock plastic wheels would be a little better, but they'd still be on flyweight wheels with foams that are basher-stiff. Change the foams and they're still on 18g wheels. So it's definitely a system. Even at that, all-in buying everything, this still costs less than a set of Hyrax with PL dual-stage-- and I'd reckon the performance is comparable. I would probably have gone with Crazy Crawler foams for these (the Pitbulls are too soft in the front for the weight of the Colonel, I think) but I already had the Pitbulls, so in they went.

Excellent! Glad to see the sway-bar worked out for you. The only things I see are the front tires look to need a little bit stiffer foams and some brass steering knuckles would't go amiss. Great improvement and great video. :)

The front end has the whole brass treatment-- c-hubs, portal housings, and knuckle weights. I haven't re-scaled the Colonel for CGH, but he added close to 400g in the wheel swap alone. I can feel the difference while driving, so the lower weight is fairly substantial.

I use an old toaster oven that I place the tires & wheels in at 400 degrees for 20 minutes. Have never tried it using deboned. Also haven’t tried it on Traxxas Canyons. Have you tried hair donuts yet? Your flush cutters look like the one I got on Amazon

The Defender comes with 5 wheels-- there's one on the back. I put that Canyon Trail in the toaster oven at 250º, as I've done with many tires in the past, and smoke was billowing out of it within 5 minutes. Tire completely melted. That's how I discovered heatgun + Un-cure. As to hair buns, that's what Ironsides (the Defender) is running for "foams." XXL hair buns. I expected them to offer absolutely no sidewall support, but they work every bit as well as single stage foams-- and I've gotten them soaking wet so many times, any foam would be completely ruined.

Debonder on its own will work , but to have to leave them sitting over night , yes you have to wait thats a given , but it will work on its own .

Not in my experience. The Glue Wizards that work at places like Traxxas and Duratrax do an unbelievable job of gluing tires-- I've had tries sitting with BSI Uncure applied for several days, and absolutely nothing happens. Uncure is non-acetone, so it will stay on the surface longer-- acetone-based debonders flash away too quickly. I never had any real luck with acetone fuming either, as removing a tire would typically take 48-72 hours, and destroy both the rim and insert. Beyond that, I don't see the advantage of waiting several days for a tire to (maybe) de-bond, when I can have it off the wheel in less than 10 minutes.

Interesting .

I think with a little work and the right foams for the rig, cut Canyon Trails can perform every bit as well as any aftermarket, non-exotic compound tire. Obviously the Alien/Predator compound stuff will outgrip out of the package, but Canyon Trails will last a loooooong time.

I haven't tried those tires in anything else . My scx 10.3 is heavy . I've added alot of scale bumpers racks light and all on it . Mild crawling . I noticed that it helped yours alot . Hyrax don't work on mine I use the rc4wd my/r seem good so far . I didn't know about taking tires off like you did . That was cool . Learned something new today . Anyway . Nice improvement from where it was .
