I would just like to share that Crayola's own website has advice for using the glitter dots thst says they stick best on UNCOATED POROUS surfaces like card stock or poster board. They literally gave you a surface that they knew the dots wouldn't stick to in the kit.

@@whitetrash6510 Yeah but those small kids will become adults, and think it's THEM, that THEY cannot make good art bc "they suck at it". When in reality, it's these kits the actual problem. I know that bc i'm an artist myself, and for YEARS i thought that "all markers are bullshait" because my mom would only buy me the cheapest of the cheapest ones, until i grew up, went into art again when i was 13(i left my art attempts at 8), bought some actually good markers, and noticed "DAMN, ALL MARKERS ARE *NOT* TRASH!" And yes, my art was horrible as a kid, but i was able to get back at it when i was 13 bc there were better options i could try and not feel like anything i did was a horrible experience that was exclusively my fault. This looks like literal landfill fodder. Each dot has to be individually packaged. It’s full of glitter, there’s sticker backing to throw away, it’s not even producing a useable piece of art work. It looks like they had some leftover scum from another product and tried to use it up. It’s bad. Thank you for reviewing this so I know to avoid it. This is genuinely damaging to beginners, because wether you want to admit it or not. Most people start with Crayola, and they're not being given a fair start. They're being given the absolute baseline trash, and then a Photoshop fantasy to use as a reference. Some of these low budget kits go for 20$-40$, if you've ever watched Nerdecrafter.

Its definitely gotten noticeably /crunchier/ looking as the adhesive has dried up but still colorful ^_^ This way makes no sense with these balls 😆
@amat0Ай бұрын
My best guess is it was glitter glue and most of the water in the glue has evaporated through the packaging, which is still on Crayola. But based on the packaging, it doesn't seem like that's likely. And having any thing stick to glossy paper is going to be tough.

That's what I was thinking depending on when it came out vs how they bought it if they bought it from a 3rd party who bought the original product say in 2014 (when resale or were not unheard of but not as obnoxious as now) the product would obviously be dried out. But if they were still on Crayola website to this day and still selling dehydrated kits it's on Crayola for selling defected products without rehydration instructions

It's products like this that just make me wonder how it got made. The idea seems so odd and then you would think there would be some kind of testing going on- maybe at that point they sunk enough money in they were just like "well it's glitter, children will ask their parents for it anyway"
@CamTheGalaxyАй бұрын
Going with the idea that the product was released out of sunk cost fallacy, I feel like maybe a sticker stencil kit wasn’t the original idea of glitter dots, cause like if you think about it the glitter dots as a concept actually do have a good idea behind them. Glitter that can be used without the mess of going everywhere and sticking to everything. And especially with the young demographic that’d also mean glitter that doesn’t kind of require adult supervision to be used. It feels like something you’d get in a jar and use in place of a standard glitter shaker. But they just didn’t work

I worked at crayola for a while and i wanna point out that glitter dots arent always bad. Glitter dots are great for little kids who just wanna put glitter glue everywhere. Save parents the headache. I have no idea WHY they put these in a kit with stencils or any paper that isnt gonna hold it down. The best way to get glitter dots to stick is to put another piece of paper on top and step on it with a shoe LOL. Crayola can make decent individual products but then the kits they make are utterly terrible. I genuinely think they give the kit product designer the kit idea before the actual product (like these dots) are done. I had to build a number of these kits for display in stores. The worst ones by far were the airdry clay ones. Their air dry clay is one of the worst art supplies on this earth

The only thing i can think of as to why crayola was inspired to do this is it kind of reminds me of that pigment paste that is used with stencils in cardmaking?
