Marianne Faithfull - Downtown

From her 1965 album titled simply "Marianne Faithfull". She never released this as a single so no official video that I know of. The film clips are 1965 "Si Demain" (french), 1965 "Yesterday" and "C'è chi spera" (italian language) sanremo festival 1967. just because I like them!!!

I thought 'Downtown' was closely affiliated with Petula Clark. Yet I find Marianne's version very enjoyable to listen to. What a diva. May she RIP 😢

I had the LP "Marianne Faithful" but this song wasn't on it. Mine was an American release LP. I'm glad to hear this for the 1st time!

I've never heard that before and was using back in 69 and early 70s , I listened to this by petula Clark over and over , It gave my mind a place to go without doing much more than just shutting my eyes, I was very lonely living in Nashville in those days , was going down town somewhere as often as petula Clark would sing to me !
