What a crazy but heartwarming movie! I loved that this was a time-travel film full of pay-offs and call-backs but more than that, I love it was a story about perseverance and family. Enjoy :)

The director (and voice of Bowler Hat Guy) Stephen J. Anderson was himself adopted at an early age. In his teens, he decided he wanted to find his parents. His adoptive parents said that he already had enough on his plate with high school, so if he waited until he was 18, they'd help him find is bio parents... but by then... he didn't care. His adoptive family was his family, and the past and what might have been no longer held any interest for him. THAT'S why this movie is so oddly beautiful and personal. Another fun fact: "Keep moving forward" was in the movie before they ever found that quote by Walt Disney. Toward the end of finishing the movie, Anderson was in a hair salon to get a trim. The magazines they had there were ancient, but one had an interview with Disney. Anderson came across the passage with "we keep moving forward", ran back to the studio, showed the team, and they added to the pre-credits just before the film was finished. Also... I may or may not LOVE this movie. ^_^;

This is one of my favourite Disney movies! Very underappreciated and maybe not the best regarding the animation, but the story gets me every time; the feels, man! And the humour as well 😁 "We don't look backwards for very long. We *keep moving forward* , opening up new doors and doing new things, because we're curious... And curiosity keeps leading us down new paths." ♥️

This was definitely one of those Disney films that was very underappreciated when it first came out. As someone who was adopted and never knew my biological family I very much felt Lewis's pain throughout the movie and how much devotion he had to finding his birth mother. And when I was little I felt sad that he decided not to find out who she really was. But as an adult I completely understand and I had amazing parents who treated me well and though we weren't the same skin color I love them just as much as any child can love their parents. This movie still makes me cry though in the end

I am so glad you reacted to this movie! This movie was my childhood! One of my favorite scenes you reacted to was the big reveal at the orphanage. The first time I watched this movie, I figured out the villain was Goob early on, but did not put together Louis was Wilbur’s dad until that moment. So, it was cool for me to watch your reaction and the moment you pit together Louis is Wilbur’s dad at the dinner scene and be surprised to learn the villain is adult Goob at the reveal. Also, you are the first person I have ever seen that called that Doris was the true villain and was using Goob before the memory scanner reveal. Fun fact: When Louis lists all the members of the Robinson family, Wilber said Cornelius looked like Tom Selleck. Tom Selleck voices Cornelius. Amazing work!

What a great movie with an incredible message! Kind of sad, though, because they don't make'm like that anymore. Such a nice reaction, too. I had a coworker who was adopted. Around that time, there was a constant stream of news accounts about people wanting to know who their biological parents were etc. Or so it seemed, and sometimes the outcomes weren't so nice. So, I asked him if he ever felt that way. He told me: "Why would I want to do that? I know who my parents are." I thought, yeah, that's the way to be.

If I'm remembering right, the lines "What does Cornelius look like?" "...Tom Sellick." were written into the script purely as a joke, before Cornelius's voice had been cast. Then they reached out to Tom Sellick to see if he was interested and he actually accepted! So it stayed in the movie, plus Tom's face is used in the portrait during the family tree scene. I don't have a source for this though, so if anyone can back that story up, it'd be cool.

As strange as it sounds, Bowler Hat Guy is one of my favorite villains. He's actually rather smart (in his own way), and 22:30 showcases this. His first idea (blow it up) would have ended in failure (Lewis's death), and he REALIZED it, and moved on to think of something else. His next idea (turn Lewis into a duck) was rather ridiculous, but he explores it anyway for a moment. And then he comes to the realization that 1: he doesn't know how or have the technology to do that, and 2: he has no need for the end result. He needs Lewis *as he is,* not Lewis transformed. Many villains would have stopped at the initial idea, and thrown themselves into making it happen and repeatedly bashing themselves against a 'wall' with little thought on how to reverse things later, rather than working within their own boundaries. To actually accomplish his goal, he used the tools he had available. His first execution of idea didn't succeed simply due to poor timing (had Lewis been alone, it would have been a simple matter to have the frog walk up to him, and then switch the hat to Lewis's head). His second execution of idea didn't succeed, but that is due to the number and ingenuity of the family rather than true failure on his part. He may not have a 300+ IQ, but the fact that he actually logics his way through his plans and evaluates their feasibility puts him ahead of a lot of villains out there.

We love this movie...I always cry at the end of it. The quote at the end is a favorite of mine and my daughters, we always say it walking out of the door for the first day of school! It's a great mindset!

I can't believe you reacted to this movie. It's just one of those quotable movies that is also so forgettable at the same time. No matter how many times I've watched it, It's always a new experience for me. I don't know how I can forget how the movie starts and plays out and yet will never forget the caffeine patch or the dinosaur's only line. I got a nice little bit of nostalgia going through this with you, so thank you.

Actually, this is my favorite Disney film. I love the message, I love the heart, I love the music... and it is fully inhabited by the best of Walt Disney's own beliefs about what is important and how to succeed, making it truly a *Disney* film.

This movie makes me cry because I'd often think "I hate my life I wish I could go back and undo this or that" and the movie says if we could see our future, it'd be good enough that we'd choose not to change the past for fear of loosing (parts of) it. Now I'm older and have my own family and I still sometimes wish I'd given up and wish I could undo things. Still waiting for that "happy future" that's supposed to make it all worth it. :(

"Meet the Robinsons" has been one of my favorite Disney films since the first time I watched it. It's whacky, the animation actually kind of works with the style of it, and it's just kind of beautiful.
