Actually, a lot of modern humans ( mostly Europeans or with European background) have neanderthal genes, since homo sapients would mix with them. They're our ancestors too.

@@yasmina3999 not as uncommon as you think, it's actually very beneficial for secluded groups to allow outsiders to have kids with their women, it prevents inbreeding and increases diversity and back then I don't think they differentiated between the two much, if there's a hole, there's a goal

This is actually one of my favourite movies. I remember watching this one a whim long after it came out, and it kinda blew me away. The visuals, the characters, the growth, the lessons. I still tear up everytime it gets to the part wheree Grug throws his family over the gap. He truly is just doing his best with what he had. That simple sentiment and expression of love gets me everytime.

Agreed. My family loved this movie, and it was often quoted. I was completely enamored with Grug and the idea that a father could care that much. He was a good dad, he protected his family, but he also had to learn to adapt to protect them, and I really like how the writers handled that. They didn't villafy him, but he did have flaws. Great movie, all in all. Very quotable and great animation, especially for when it came out

I’m pretty sure Eep is a neanderthal and Guy is a cro-magnon (early modern human), which occasionally cross-bred. So it’s not really that she has unusual strength but that she’s a separate (but closely related) species that is typically stronger.

This movie gets me so much. My dad and I we don’t see eye to eye but whenever I’m in trouble he is there for me. When Grug hugged Eep, it’s as if my dad hugs me. I’m glad you had fun with this movie. 😁

With that kind of harsh environment, you need to be fast, strong and durable as heck like the Croods to survive. However, it doesn't make them immortal and Grug knew this very well hence why they hid in the cave a lot.

The Croods are supposed to be indicative of the Neanderthal and Guy is the Homo Sapien, we do have it on record that there were cases of interbreeding between the two sub species and that some people to this day still carry a recessive gene that is from the Neanderthal line, the homo sapien line was the more adaptive branch and Neanderthal did mostly die off.

You should watch "The Mitchels vs the Machines". It's a fantastic movie and comedy gold haha. It's family focus and the journey of growth the dad and daughter go through is kind of smiliar to this one. I think you'd like it a lot :)

This really is a beautiful movie. You can really understand where Grug is coming from, though. As a parent, the desire to protect your family is very strong, and in all of their experience... leaving the safety of the cave has meant death for everyone that they've known. Still, it may have taken him a while, but he did learn how to adapt and move forward. I strongly recommend watching the second one. It is a lot of fun, too!

Thanks for your reaction! First movie is actually cool. There is a lot of symbolism in it, about how we need to open up to something new. Each character has their own path to awareness, which is shown very interestingly in the cartoon. I don't know whether to recommend watching the second part or not, perhaps it is a little more primitive, in comparison with the first. But it's just as fun and crazy😂❤

I'm ngl i really just always made assumptions about this movie and thought it was more slop and well crude humor, but it's actually a surprisingly sweet movie

Have seen the movie just recently and got much pleasure from it. For me the best character in the cartoon is Grug, such a devoted head of the family and a loving father! And he is the one who actually has the most interesting character arc. The only thing that irritated me a little is that they made him the one who was almost totally wrong and his ideas felt dumb and Grug was supposed to be the only one who needed to change his views. However in fact not all of his ideas were wrong, imho. Sometimes you really need to be careful and take precautions because life is truly dangerous. And sometimes throwing yourself into new experience isn't a brilliant idea. And yeah, "never not be afraid" is not always a bad motto. But in the movie he turned out to be always wrong and dumb till the moment he changed his principles. I really began almost to despise his family at the moment when they disеstimated all his previous efforts and said that his rules were never helpful. Though in fact he did a lot to protect his family and to take care of them and it was for him that they were alive till the moment they met Guy. At least in previous circumstances his rules were not that bad however nobody seemed to realize it. If there was at least one moment when they came across true danger when the best way is just to hide and stay careful it could be great because thus not only Grug but all the others could have some character development too. He not only kept the family safe but also taught them how to be a family and stick to each other, how to cooperate together. He even invented the tradition of telling stories in the evenings and though he was a bad story-teller the tradition is still great because it helps to unite the family. So, for me it's a pity that Grug was a little bit underestimated by his family. However it's only my personal opinion and all in all the cartoon is very adorable, funny and kind. P. S. I look forward to seeing Oscar with beard and moustache! 😊

histoirans/archeoligsts/primatolgists etc have concurred that homo neanderthalensis & homo sapien were alive at the same time & did interbreed btw, we're cousin species @<a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="1845">30:45</a> Ive been to a place called Mansfield Zoo, where you can stay overnight in tents at the zoo & the sky was incredible! you could also hear the lions roaring lol, highly recommend if you ever go to Mansfield, VIC!

I do not work directly with animals lie actual employees but when we have concerts in the zoo in summer, I volunteer as a bodyguard and tour-guide. I have met some great performers one-on-one that way including Cyndi Lauper and Loreena McKennit.

While this isn't my favorite move, I do really like it, and I have an interesting memory tied to it. My dad chose this movie to show me in the hospital when I broke my femur (middle school). I don't have much more to add to that - It's just a really good movie that doesn't quite make my top favorites that I happen to have a memory tied to. Hulloa Mr. Oscar. Might I suggest that you try watching Spy x Family? I think it'd be right up your alley judging by what you've previously enjoyed on here on your channel. Spy x Family is an anime, I know you don't really watch anime on this channel but this is probably worthy of an exception. There is also a film that chronologically probably takes place after season 1. It's mainly a comedy but it is choc full of intense, heartfelt and wholesome moments. It's very unique in the best way. I think everyone who I know who has watched it has enjoyed it, and I don't think you'd be an exception, hence the suggestion. Since I'm recommending stuff I'm just going to quickly say maybe check out Joseph: King of Dreams (a Dreamworks film, that is technically the prequel to The Prince of Egypt) and The Chosen (a historical drama tv series). Godzilla Minus One is another great one that you'd probably enjoy.
