This coupled with the opening theme song for volume 3 just had me checking all my preconceptions about rwby and reevaluating its potential as more than just a show about fighting monsters. Love the fact that that this series can be rewatched and reinterpreted everytime.

Episode 11 showed some good character growth for Weiss. During the fight, she was able to partially summon the knight from her trailer because of her growth. She was about to willingly take a massive hit for someone who was a faunus, whereas she didn't like/trust the faunus in volume 1.

Obligatory Velvet explanation post: Velvet's weapon is actually her camera - it can create hard-light duplicates of any weapon she takes pictures of, but doing so basically 'burns' the picture, which means she has to take more pictures to keep using the weapon. Each picture is only good for a couple of hits before the weapon fades. Her Semblance allows her to copy someone's fighting style, letting her use those weapons proficiently. Other notes: remember, in the very first episode, Ozpin said he only knew one other scythe-wielder as good as Ruby: "A dusty old Qrow." We always knew he had a scythe, but this is the first time we've gotten to see it. Also, the development from Weiss! End of Volume 1: "Those faunus only know how to lie, cheat and steal!" End of Volume 3: She jumps in front of a mech to protect a faunus.

Velvet reference? A book titled "The Velveteen Rabbit." Velvet's last name is Scarlatina. Another name for scarlet fever. Which the child in the book had. Yes the references go deep. Ps. The arrow went into Pyrrha's ankle just above the heel. Another reference.

Pyrrha is the analogue of Greek Hero Achillies, so naturally she got hit in the Achilles tendon, the one spot the legendary hero was vulnerable because that's how his mother held him when she dipped him into the river Styx as an infant.

The part that kills me but I didnt get until later, Velvet using the weapon consumes the photo its from. Using Pennys swords means that she loses a photo of a fallen hero.

The first thing Ozpin said to Ruby was, in fact, "You have silver eyes." The first episode is interesting to rewatch now that you can see where all the foreshadowing is going. Ruby also says in the first episode that Qrow taught her how to fight. She chose the scythe as her weapon because she looks up to him. I've never heard anyone call Salem an alien, that's funny. 😄 That's just her fancy hairstyle. And the landscape does look hellish, but the same broken moon is in the sky that we've seen all along.

Love episode 11 especially, easily one of my favorites of the whole series. The Torchwick scene on the battleship is just perfection - animation, dialogue, everything. Torchwick's death is a great subversion, it's poetic irony how it's completely in line with his own cynical worldview. His death is sudden, meaningless and indiscriminate. It would seem like a cop-out in any other situation, but here it feels completely appropriate

it's not Earth it's Remanent, the shattered moon was clearly there so unless there is another moon that they never said anything about the final scene must be on Remanent not to mention she knows Ozpin by name lol, in the world of Remanent videos they talk about places that haven't been explored because no one who goes there has ever came back so it's likely one of those places.

According to one of the novels her semblance is photographic memory that gives her mimicry as a result, her semblance has a lot more uses than just mimicry.
