Brood boosting across species has a fairly high success rate with single queens and small colonies. The color of both of the species doesn’t really matter but it’s cool that you did it across two subgenus’
@UrbanOrganisms3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I’ve done between different campos and stuff but I was not expecting this to work. I tried boosting testaceus with mexicanus brood, which are closer related than mendax and mexicanus, but that didn’t work

A good strategy for brood boosting more unrelated species like these is boosting a small amount first and then boosting the rest. In my experience, the first brood booted workers had about an 80% success rate but when there were workers of their species already in the colony they had a 100% success rate

@@UrbanOrganisms you are very knowledgeable about them, but the enclosure looks so small with no natural environment to entertain themselves in. No dirt/grass to dig around in, nothing much to explore etc. Don't they get bored and lose their instincts just traveling around the same tiny layers all the time?
