Underneath a park near my old house, I saw what I now believe to be a ant super colony. I remember them climbing up to my (4 floor up) home and getting food. Another example was when me and my friend lifted a brick around 7 years ago and saw hundreds of ants and even some larger ones, witch I now believe to be multiple queens.

Personally I think you should keep them for a year or two, make them absolutely huge, like tens of millions of ants while releasing the elates before you set them free. Set up a bunch of artificial homes for them in the area, so they will likely move in to those easy nests, which means you can help the environment and if they keep in the area and go in the premade houses, you can still observe them.

Hey! I know this was two years ago but you have inspired me to help out wild ants in my area! When i was little i had a old plastic fish tank- i put dirt moss and drift wood in it! I put it out into the wild and put a few blueberries in it- as well as apple pieces! A year later ants went inside by themselves and even formed tunnles underneath it! I was sad because my mom wanted me to move it but I didn’t have the heart to do it- so when i did i saw so many ants in the tunnels and even some eggs! They safely moved the eggs and themselves in the tunnels- im so happy though that the ant colony lived for a good five years before disappearing! You inspire me so much! Thank you.

I think that it might be best to keep a portion of the colony, release the rest, and then use the portion you kept, in order to produce nuptials to release later. You would be to guarantee the safety of at least one native colony. Awesome that you will be fighting the invasive species!!!!

@@felixc543 pheidole Megacephala are native to Africa. Yes his house is in Philippines. The normal invasive ants like ghost ants, destructor ants, pharoah ant, etc don't raid nests of other ants but Megacephala do and they will aggressively ward off other ants from food source. Just look at new and rare ants in his latest videos and think how dangerous it can be if Megacephala gets released in wild there. Not even the infamous eciton army ants of South America can raid them because they smear the invading army ants with their scent so the returning army ants get killed as they are mistaken as enemy ants.
