MESSAGE FROM CHRIS MOTIONLESS ON IMMACULATE MISCONCEPTION: The main idea and main concern of mine was to basically parallel the 2 time periods of our band and all the open minded people in the world's present day life and the time period of Jesus' life and show how similar they are. I wanted to highlight the hypocrisy and hold a mirror up to all the self righteous, Holier-than-thou people and show them how full of shit they are. We have our own beliefs and we aren't afraid to speak out about them, We are not satanists, We have a positive message towards finding self-worth and inner peace, We don't discriminate against ANYONE regardless of the way they look, their faith, sexuality, or race, and believe it or not, I have a tremendous amount of respect for Jesus Christ. Yet despite all these very moral and positive vibes, we are still constantly ripped apart for being who we are. Sounds really similar to what happened to the man the people that criticize us put all their faith in. The difference between myself and Jesus is that he was trying to convince people to believe in him and a higher power (God) to find salvation... Whereas *I'M* trying to convince people to believe in themselves. God does not control your life, YOU do. My band and Myself are 100% completely aware that NOT ALL Christians or followers of any religion are close minded and do the things they do in this video. I've met SO many awesome people in my travels that are Christians etc.. and regardless of whether they like Motionless In White or not, they still know how to keep an open mind and be respectful. I don't want anyone watching this video to feel like they should be angry towards every person of any faith, or that we are attacking their faith directly. The song is very plainly written about the people who abuse God's name by using it to profit or cause harm to others emotionally or physically, but it's even more importantly written as a call to arms to ANY person in this world to come stand together to fight the ignorance that halts the progression of mankind. Hate me for that, I fucking dare you.

He writes the song basically from the POV that a lot of people called Jesus a heretic and condemned Him for what he did, which was to ultimately teach us how to not be pieces of shit to each other, and it's ironic how they (being the high ups and 'Im holier than thou') treated Him like a piece of shit. Chris isn't trying to say he is Jesus but he draws the parallel between these two lines of thinking really well. Which is why would you go against you're own beliefs to hate what you refuse to understand beyond initial looks?

It's about bands like Underoath who claim to be a Christian band, but have been seen on tour doing drugs and sleeping with groupies and Chris was tired of these bands saying they're Christian but then doing "non-Christian" shit. When he says "worthless god", he's saying these fake Christian bands don't actually believe in God, therefore he can call it a worthless God. There are some good interviews about this song with him.

I can confirm this Chris motionless is one of the nicest people I've ever met. My friend's band opened for them up at the rave in Wisconsin back in my junior year of high school (I'm 25 now). But after the show I got to meet the band and talk with them and me and Chris talked about how music can be peaceful yet cathartic and he hopes to show himself through his music and not judge others. One of the realest moments I've ever had and one I'll cherish because he saw me not as a kid or some punk teen but as someone just like him.

I forgot about this song, this used to be one of my favorite songs back in high school, the message is pretty great, the music video really conveys that message to a T, and the song came out at the peak of the Westboro Baptist Church being all over the news so it was very relevant as well. I wish MIW kinda stuck with this sound a bit more over time but their newer stuff is pretty good as well.

Most of their music isn't that intense. I would suggest Eternally Yours, Reincarnate, or Disguise

Haha also the first song I heard from them a while back when I wasn't into metal and hated it then I came back to them with the lighter stuff like reincarnate and fell in love with this song also

Most other people are going to give you garbage suggestions for this band. Some of MIW’s best songs are Another Life, Puppets (The First Snow), Puppets 2 (The Rain), and Puppets 3, Burned at Both Ends, and Fatal
