Why you didnt use online booking system?.It is easy, comfortable and hassle free. 1) To tourists please use IRCTC website for long distance (Express) trains booking (Its has been revamped. There are two types of ticket booking one is normal and other is tatkal. Tatkal booking is used for immediate or one day priority tickets.Details could be found on google and IRCTC websites). Now a days hardly any one uses offline mode of ticket booking unless and until someone doesn't have access to internet.Still if some one wants to book ticket offline please go to major stations or airport and ask for reserved ticket booking counters. Terms you must know: a) Tatkal : Its a ticket booking system which is used to book ticket one day prior to your travel if you have unplanned travelling schedule. b) Waiting list: Waiting list is basically are the non confirmed tickets which have some chances of ticket booking confirmation. Please check IRCTC website for confirmation percentage for ticket booking. c) RAC: A Reservation Against Cancellation (RAC) is technically a train ticket with confirmed seat but wait listed berth. In other words, if your train ticket shows RAC as its status (with an RAC status number), you can board the train and occupy the seat allowed, instead of a sleeping berth at night. (These system has been incorporated because India has huge population almost above 1.3 billion and a major portion of the population is dependent on trains). Bonus point : Carry sensitizer. It would be of great help. Some best trains in India: Rajdhani, Satabdi, Duronto , Tejas, gatiman etc. (There also some route specific trains you can search on the google). Still almost all major cities are connected via Plane connectivity. 2) You can use redbus, makemytrip websites for buses (Make my trip can be used for rail booking, flights also). 3) You can also use oyorooms and makemytrip websites for hotel booking. 4) You can also make use of zoomcar (Self drive car booking, ola, uber for car rentals but yes you also must experience autos. 5) Try exploring North east India : Sikkim, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur etc. (You will be surprised), uttrakand , himachal pradesh , anadaman nicobar, lakhsyadeep, Ladhak. 6) You can use zoomcar or ola in some cities to book cycle to explore the cities. I believe cycle is one the best option in India to explore its cities. 7) Always ask some locals for approx auto and taxi rates before using them. Sharing Some useful links: (These website also have apps) For Train booking : www.irctc.co.in/, makemytrip.com For Bus booking: redbus.in, makemytrip.com, yatra For flight: makemytrip.com, yatra For hotels: oyorooms (For cheap and good hotels), makemytrip, yatra Food apps: Zomato (Restaurant, bar,pub search app), swiggy( Food delivery) For car rentals: Zoomcar, ola, uber 7) India has 29 states and each state has its own tourism websites(You can make good use of it), I providing one or two example rest you can search on google by putting the state name. wbtourismgov.in/ www.maharashtratourism.gov.in/ www.sikkimtourism.gov.in/Webforms/General/Default.aspx www.arunachaltourism.com www.goatourism.gov.in/ ,www.goa-tourism.com/ Incredible India website: www.incredibleindia.org/content/incredibleindia/en.html ONE RECOMMENDATION : Please ask your Indian friend about your trip and try to find our info.If you dont have one make one.He/She would be more than happy to help. You can also drop mail me mail for suggestion I would try to help as per my caliber : gkushal87@gmail.com EVERY COUNTRY HAS ITS TWO SIDES. EVEN MY BROTHER FACED PROBLEMS IN USA THAT DOESN'T MEAN ITS UNORGANIZED OR UNSAFE.JUST YOU NEED TO DO LITTLE RESEARCH AND ASK THE LOCALS BEFORE TRAVELLING.

Josh & Ash, hope you had a good adventure finding the right place to buy tickets! A tip: It's best to buy an Indian pre-paid sim card. It's very cheap and convenient especially if you're from outside India. Most mobile applications like train tickets, accessing Wi-Fi uses "One time password" or "OTP" which is a password sent to your phone by SMS/text to login and use the application. Bonus tip: Indian Railways have certain seats reserved for tourists. Try to make the best use of this facility.

You are right.. Indian bureaucracy is quite complex and there is a lot of red tapism, corruption, delays etc but at the same time services provided by private organizations are organised, on time, customer oriented etc. It is not only u but locals are also fed up of government organisations( they're white elephant which only guzzles money without much output).

actually its lot easier to buy tickets in india..There are to types of tickets 1st one UNRESERVE TICKET which is for short journey just like metro train tickets which will be cheaper and most important is you can buy offline only through ticket counters 2nd one is RESERVE TICKET for longer journey just like in ur case mumbai to goa ... now there are certain categories in reserve ticket like 3AC(six people in a compartment) 2AC(four people in a compartment 1AC(two or four people here you will get a own ROOM).. there is one more category after AC which is sleeper(non AC Six people compartment **dont try that be aware**). So all these ticket you can buy from big station not from local station( just like metro station) for that you have to follow RESERVE TICKET COUNTER fill the form thats it.. and yes you are in india so prefer confirm ticket over wail listed train .. GOOD LUCK like you gone thru my comment

The ticketing concept is unique of mumbai station as its extensive local trains and inter-cities or inter-state trains share the same station...the ticketing counter of the latter will be different than those of local trains....In nearly all the stations of other cities there will be just one set of counters for train tickets as those station cater people going from one city to other city/state only...You would probably see the difference when you land in Goa...

All foreigners kindly note 2 things regarding Indian railways: 1> If u r in Mumbai and want to purchase Long journey train tickets you can approach Mumbai Central, ChurchGate or CST Chatrapati Shivaji Terminus Terminus stations all this 3 are main stations where you dont have to run to several places for issuing tickets. 2> Every long journey Ticket has PNR number written on ticket that's a unique tracking number, if any traveler face any issue while traveling in Indian Railways you can Tweet to Indian railway official Twitter handle @RailMinIndia by posting your " PNR xyz " and what ever problem you have Indian railway twitter handle is really pro active for their commuters they will track ur PNR number and will send help to your seat if needed. All the information given about is 100 % genuine you can google it or search their twitter handle too, All foreigners kindly note this down.

Google is the best tool to navigate any city. Check online where to buy tickets. Do not ever buy General / Sleeper/ 3rd Class tickets in trains. Take 2nd class or 1st. 1st class is as good as taking a Flight. Wait listed tickets you can not board the train - but RAC & confirmed you can. Ask your hotel staff to help you book tickets online. Avoid Trains between 12 am & 5 am as you will have to take a Cab at night which is not exactly safe. Avoid Govt / ST bus for travelling to other cities.... take a Private AC Coach / Volvo Bus.

There's a good chance these guys may have missed the train to Goa. I hope not. But props to these two guys for getting the actual ticket station. Actually the station where they got their tickets from is called Dadar. It is such a huge station that even Indian people who travel there for the first time can easily get lost in the weirdly organized sections of the stations. Anyways I hope you have good time in Goa. You might find that place less "India" because usually its filled with tourists from across the world. Have fun!

www.irctc.co.in works most of the time. They have revamped the UI recently but still the interface is not as user friendly as that of some other countries train booking sites. @AdityaGogwekar6 жыл бұрын
There's a PNR number on your ticket. Just google search the website for PNR Status, enter your PNR and you'll know if your ticket gets confirmed along with the seat/berth and coach you are alloted. Also, the earlier ticketing windows you visited were for the suburban "local" trains. The ticket windows for outstation trains are different and they are there at almost every station. Again, as you said, you gotta ask where outstation train reservation ticket window is! Happy Journey!

Why You couldn't buy online? IRCTC website, makeMyTrip, yatra . com, even PayTM and other mobile wallets let you buy eTickets from them . If not indian an citizen , you need to give the passport number in place of other indian ID (like adhaar etc). You can also get adhaar ID even if not indian citizen, useful if you are in india for long, just visit any aadhar center nearby, submit your biometrics and photo and copy of passport etc. AND you can go to many private shops and travel agents who will book a ticket for you in a safe comfortable nearby place for a small fee. Just remember to carry your ID or passport whose number you mentioned in your ticket, or you will be considered without ticket and fines are heavy, you can also be deboarded.

Ok, now we wait for the next video to see if Josh and Ashley getting up at the ass end of dawn to get transport will work. Wherever you are in the world it's always a good idea to ask if you are lost or confused about something, there are good people out there who will help :)

thanks for this :) not everything is smooth and easy. Well you didn't have problems, but showing the world the process you went through is really nice. Can't wait for the next video :) kisses from Romania :)
