I have over 300lbs of copper pennies from 1959-1981 in three home depot buckets. The first two are filled to the top and the third bucket almost half filled. My 1982's are separated. My copper memorial pennies are catching up to my wheat cents when it comes to bulk. I keep every penny from the 1850's till 1982.

I've been saving every single copper penny that I find! I do a lot of roll hunting and don't find a lot worth keeping as far as condition or errors but keeping all the copper is a way of getting some cash reward for my time even though I would enjoy it anyways. But I've been saying this for years! Just like when I was a kid there was plenty of silver coins in circulation. But not so much anymore. The same thing will happen with copper! The last copper cents are 42 years old and they won't make em anymore! Stock up if your smart!

Justin I'm a plumber so I've been throwing back that 90% copper because I get 100% pipe scrap$$$ copper from demo's! I feel better about scrapping that then coinage😂

What's the best advice for getting free or cheap coin rolls? I like getting cases and coin hunting, but then need to spend some profit to buy empty rolls to return to the bank!!

Somebody tried to do this with nickels a few years ago. IIRC they made it illegal to sell u.s. coins for melt value or something like that.

It is also illegal to steal cars, rob banks, sell narcotics, etc. but when does a mere law stop someone from doing something illegal? Someone once said "we have ten thousand laws on the books to basically enforce the Ten Commandments, and we do a piss poor job of it."

P.S.A. You know the advice your giving is a crime, right? bc youd have to melt them down to make your profit.. That being said i have a good amount of them and im saving them till it hits about 5x plus b4 i trip and fall and happen to land infront of a blowtourch. 😂😂😂

He didn't tell anyone to melt the coins. His reference is about the actual value of the metal. Just like silver coins, people always say "melt value" for a common wore out silver coin. It's the same with copper cents. It's just a cheap way to stack "bullion" which it's not currently but like gold and silver it will only go up in value. Also the last ones made are already 42 years old. Pretty cool if you think about it. Good idea to start saving them if you aren't already. 👍😎

My coin dealer sold me a copper bullion bar and it was all nice and legal. Would you be so kind as to show us the U S Statute forbidding the selling of copper as bullion? Edit, he never said anything about melting down copper cents to turn into copper bullion, he hinted at treating copper cents as junk silver.

I hear ya. I'm broke but my "forever" sealed rolls aren't going anywhere for along time! Also, the value, due to pop decrease, should increase the value of varieties and errors.
