The springtime desert winds continue to sandblast our little crew but the incredible landscape and geological oddities help us press on... coffee or not! This might be one of the more miserable trips we've had in a while but still 100% worth the effort to see so much beauty. Thankfully it ends on a high note!

Totally agree! BFG, Cooper, and Falkens have been the best so far. If we're weren't out to test them all for educated feedback for our viewers we would have stuck with one of those for sure 👍

Instant coffee, Instant oatmeal cups, dehydrated meals and a jetboil will give you a good hot meal even in the most challenging conditions. Much better than chips and beef jerky for breakfast or dinner. 😊

I’ve been roaming pretty much these same areas this week and the wind continues to blow relentlessly from about 11am to 3am. Gusts so strong I’ve had actual tiny airborne rocks pelting me. It has been calm in the morning hours fortunately. Even with the wind, what an incredible place this is!

Another wonderful video, yes I agree on those tires. All the blowing sand reminds me of when we lived in Western Australia. Greetings from West coast of Canada

Hoping one day we will build up our new wrangler into a mini overlanding rig. Not really into the whole rock crawling scene, we just love to go out and explore. Very happy to have a vehicle again to do that in, it’s been awhile. Your channel definitely helped inspire that

Did you go last sunday? I was driving from Utah to Los Angeles that day and the wind was so strong i was wrestling with the steering wheel almost the whole trip from St. George to California. I went through about 4 Dust/Sand Storms! It was crazy!

You know the story is; the pioneers were sent south to establish towns. Most were established due to the pioneers waiting for the wind to stop blowing....... The Gypsum outcropping is awesome. The gilsonite or gray mud is treacherous in rain. Good review of the tires. "Rock Chips" Yum!!!!

Hey, a fellow Tennessean. We are south of Knoxville, near the smokey mountains. Two questions - 1) How long did it take you to get out there? 2) Is that an Iridium antenna? If so, what iridium radio are you using, and are there enough people on the frequency to call for help? Thanks in advance.

I went through this area last year. There were some truly unbelievably unique views. Glass mountain was bizarre. Did you happen to notice on the sides of the trail before glass mountain, there where bright white rocks with almost a chalk-like texture. I have yet to figure out what that stuff was.

@@LifestyleOverland what is your tire size, I’m thinking of staying stock on a TRD off-road 4runner and just getting good armor underneath. Is it worth the extra dough to lift and just go up an inch or so in tire size?
@tomfrengillo
@tomfrengillo 2 жыл бұрын
@@DThomas1976 I took that approach with my stock Tacoma Offroad. Slightly bigger tires, some armor underneath. Been to Moab and the Swell area with our RTT, then switching to towing our Teardrop. Live and offroad in many 3 rated trails in our Colorado home. I’d say this gets us to 90% of where we want to go. Next purchase will probably be sliders, before the lift kit. Our truck is our only vehicle and big tires, big lift, lead to regearing, which means extra dollars and extra fuel. If this were our full time overlander, wouldn’t hesitate making the investment. So for now, been ok for our use. Would certainly heed Kevin’s advice, but my two cents. Good luck.

Looks like you’re running those tires too low. They can’t handle the low pressures like the BFGs.
@LifestyleOverland
@LifestyleOverland 2 жыл бұрын
A true mud terrain tire absolutely should be able to handle being aired down. If we hadn't aired down, the damage would have been twice as bad. (If we made it out at all) Decreased pressure allows the tire to deform around sharp objects. If it can't be aired down, it's not an off-road tire at all and should stick to the streets or trips to the mall. 👍

I like the shot you got of the front grill of the well drilling truck. I got one looking out over the steering wheel and the window. Never thought to do the grill. Check my video for views from the over looks. Also like that you got the water puddles. We did the clockwise loop with our silver. Thanks for sharing.😀👍
