It was an epic piece of advise. I tell young couples all the time to choose your disagreements wisely. Most couples fight or disagree over stuff that will not matter in a week. A garage sale is truly the only place to find a one if a kind treasure that may not ever be seeing again or anywhere else in the world. Sellers can be motivated by money, freeing up space, finding new homes for stuff they cherish. It’s a mostly positive outcome and experience and that feeling of going on the hunt for that holy grail whatever that is to you is an addictive one.

I'd take the books. I am a dedicated bookaholic (retired librarian) and love books so much. As a child in a small Oklahoma village with no library and no access to books, I just can't get enough of them. I am so bad that I now have to hide them. My poor husband has given up on building me more bookcases. I will never be able to read all of them and they are all nonfiction. They give me great peace of mind for some reason. When I am gone, they will probably be put in recycling so I am furiously trying to read them all NOW.
