Damn, I was so pumped about this. Why are they just handing out diamond fish everywhere? The fishing itself looks great, the rod movement etc. But wtf is everything else? Every youtuber who had this is catching diamonds like crazy....

The way you can just see the fish chilling on the surface of the water is a crazy immersion killer. They should make it so that there's more so the *hint* of a fish in the area (ripples, small glimpses of colour, splashing and jumping) than just having the fish floating there.

after watching gameplay I'm kind of worried, the game seems way too easy, a bunch of videos I was watching had people pulling 8 lb golden and 10 lb bass like it was nothing. Another thing is that there are not any graphs which is worrying. The fish also don't seem to correlate to structure much. There are random pike and trout swimming around the lake around the top of the water column in like 115 feet of water. Not to mention the guy in the video I was watching was catching trout with 55 lb braid, which is never going to happen irl. Idk what do you guys think

Yes, there are too many big fish, and why does the small mountain-ponds have 20 pound diamond trout??!? In real life fish like that can only be found in huge lakes. And also I think it's weird that spinnerbaits and poppers are the most viable trout lures in this game, spinnerbaits and poppers are made for bass and pike.

Yeah that’s exactly how I’m feeling. They talked so much about how much detail the put into fish spawning for them to just be all over the place. Not to mention there is no fisherman that stares at their rod the entire time they fight a fish.

I'm so torn on this game... I feel like most fishing games are "halfway" there, but I haven't found a game that had everything (great graphics, open world, natural fishing mechanics, etc). And by all the vids talking about features they'd like to see down the road it really places this game in the halfway group even before its out! This will be a first for me but I hope they consider pushing back the launch. I would love to see this game succeed like theHunter but right now it looks like a fishing dlc for My Summer Car lol

I'm not Flinter (obviously), but I think its a possibility. it's going to really affect the replayability in the long run if they decide not to, that's for sure. Dont quote me on this, but I believe on one of the streams they did a few months back they mentioned that its something they were considering in the future.

This seems to be a great game, but it’s got a lot to go before it gets top tier. Seems like it’s gonna be like how The Hunter was between launch and about a year after. Look forward to when all the patches get made and this game turns into a masterpiece. (Also would people stop complaining and saying this game is terrible? There are few sims that are great at launch.)

Game looks decent enough, nothing too ground breaking and needs some tweaks but it's a decent looking foundation. One thing I really appreciate as a actual angler, is the fish seem to fight. Nothing irritates me more than landing 20lb+ fish on light tackle in less than a minute every single time. I live for the fight, even if I lose a fish, it's the fight that keeps me coming back so I appreciate they have put some effort in there. It needs some fine tuning, especially the animations but as long as it provokes that adrenaline rush of making those split second decisions during that fight, then I'm in.

Whenever I've caught a pike, it's always been when I'm going for bass. They just hit any lure I've used. Good to see the game is kinda mimicking real life pretty good.

If the mechanics are like RL or other fishing games, stop reeling when the fish runs and just keep tension on the rod. Reeling when the drag is slipping causes it to slip more, and thus lets more line out. Once he stops running, then start reeling again. Try it and see if it helps in this game.

That’s awesome they have pike, do they have Muskie? And for anyone complaining about this game being easy, fishing irl isn’t exactly the easiest to do. It’s easy in concept but there’s many times you’ll get skunked. So it’ll be nice after an unsuccessful day on the lake to pull stuff on this game.

I'm still excited for this game, but the fishing action itself seems... off. I've got faith that the game will improve over time, just like CotW did. But the player models are *terrible* and there are just too many fish that are far too easily caught.

The player models are hideous :') You'd think because you're actually going to be seeing your character quite a lot, like every single fish you catch, that they'd make they look good. I don't know why they're so bad, in COTW they're not even this bad, not amazing but the Remi Warren character model I actually think looks good for what it is. Such a shame to have the models look so terrible since we'd be staring at them constantly

@@the.mr.schrader Play what you want, but I own both and a working computer, so imma stick to what I enjoy. I would urge you to look at the technical side of each of these games and it's clear which one is better I've had 3 and 4 hour fights fishing under tackle in fishing planet and it is one of the select games I have thrown time at like classic due to it's long game play loop and seeming endless level system. Not to mention that fishing planet has a better comp system then both classic, cotw or cota with actually knockout style tournaments. Also graphically all the cotw titles are going to be cartoon-like, one of my biggest reasons for staying on classic, it has better graphics if you enjoy its graphics more. Fishing planet isn't an ugly game when cranked. If you are playing any of these on console I'm sure they are all terrible experiences. It's the same argument for classic vs cotw do you want a fishing simulator or a fishing game both of these are significantly closer to games then fishing simulators in comparison to irl, but fishing planet is a little closer and I enjoy it more. Also please lay off the shift button you'll get carpal tunnel syndrome.

In real life, in order to catch my golden trout I had to climb several hundred vertical feet to 11,000 plus elevations. Then I had to use the smallest possible worm hook, 2 pound mono and a quarter of a worm on an invisible bobber. Not exactly like the game. However, I appreciate Flinter for showing it to us and I understand it isn't supposed to be exactly like fishing.

Use a heavier jig and a grub and just jig it off the bottom don’t real it in. Just jig it a foot or so off bottom constantly till you get a strike

Needs better character models, fish models, underwater views, better camera when fighting, more skill to catching fish (seems like every cast is a fish, that's lame). The map looks good, but everything else can use a lot of work. As has been said, there's multiple free options out there that put this to shame.

It looks to me like the reason they have the camera constantly follow the end of the rod is because the fish movement and action in the water is really terrible, so they have the camera purposefully look away from that in order to hide it. Not good at all. And nowhere near realistic. I consider myself a very experienced fisherman in real life, and I certainly don't watch the end of the rod while I'm fighting a fish. And the fish swimming near the surface constantly is dumb as well. Very unrealistic. Those two issues alone might prevent me from getting the game, if they don't change them.

The fish are way to slow, when a fish strikes a lure they should be moving really fast. Currently watching the trout hit the lure is absolutely terrible

What the heck is EW doing these days? Other commenters have already mentioned how unrealistic and silly this game is compared to real fishing. After 500 hours of CotW and now this, I've fully given up on them. Not spending another cent on their subpar, low effort, and utterly arcadey products. On the other hand, WotH has been hands down the best hunting game in eons. I've found my new calling. Looking forward to more WotH content!

I can see now why there was such a long wait for gameplay videos. This game is not finished. It’s not ready for release. This is cotw launch all over again. Map is stunning. Literally everything else is like a 90’s arcade. Shame on them. Classic is still their best looking game, I don’t understand why they think arcade is the future. And before you read this and say I don’t know what I’m talking about. I own cotw and can’t bring myself to play it vs classic. Look at the player model, it’s laughable. The rods are pale in color. The fish look like stuffed animals. I wanted so bad for this to be good. Please, please Devs if you read this. Do not release this yet, it’s not the game we hoped for. Please fix it first.
