I am here now and planning to do some travel down the coast towards Brazil and Argentina but I also have a very constant but quiet voice in the back of my mind telling me to go straight to Asia, especially Thailand, Bali, PH and other similar / close by areas as I love the relaxed lifestyle, the beach and amazing blue water islands and also the food to Im from Australia so ive been to Bali/Thailand and stuff a few times but I really want to do it again. Hi Jonathan! I'm a Filipina living in South Korea and I've been binge-watching your vlogs. And of course, I subscribed! Haha. So the the man (Ajussi) at 8:45 in your vid was asking if it's delicious. It sounds like "mu-shee- saw- yaw?" haha It's not the right spelling. I'm just spelling it the way I know my American friends would easily get it. The vowel sounds are very different. I've lived here for about 15 years and I've never tried raw crab-- the one you were eating. You see, in the Phils, we don't normally eat it raw. But after seeing your honest reaction, I think I'm gonna try it. I'm gonna find that lady. She seems really nice.
@benburns5995 Жыл бұрын
Hi Jonathan, great video of your first day in South Korea at the Food Market. When you were sitting eating the Crab dish there was a lady that walked behind you balancing a tray on her head. It was so funny that you captured that on video. Wonderful that you were able to meet that couple from Atlanta Georgia. Also appreciated the front row seat with the famous lady making the noodles. It was amazing that she was cutting the dough with that sharp knife without looking and just by feel. Must say it is so strange seeing you on video somewhere else but the Philippines.

Anyohaseyo! Is that Tongdaemon market? I spent part of my years in the US Army stationed up north near the DMZ, Camp Gary Owen near Munsan and Camp Casey in Tongduchon respectively, both in 2nd Infantry Div (Indianhead). The biggest difference between the Philippines and South Korea is the language barrier. Even Koreans that have been working at the base for like 20 years and KATUSAs can barely understand you (vice-versa). I still enjoyed my tours there though. I you have a chance, take the tour at the DMZ. You’ll appreciate why the US military still have a presence there even after the Korean War.

Welcome to Korea. Raw crab is a food that foreigners have a hard time eating, but it is nice. Try other foods : Seoul-style Bulgogi, Galbi(ribs), Samgyeopsal(pork belly), Japchae(stir-fried starch noodle), So-gopchang(beef intestines), Gimbap, Haemul-pajeon(seafood and green onion pancake), Gyeongyang-sik Tonkasu(pork cutlet, not Japanese Tonkatsu), Jajangmyeon(black noodle), Pyeongyang naengmyeon(cold noodle), Seolleongtang(OX bone soup, It is a local dish of Seoul), Galbi-tang(short rib soup), Jeonbok-juk(abalone rice porridge), Samgyetang(ginseng chicken soup), Kong guksu(white cold bean-soup noodle), Godeungeo-gui(grilled mackere), Bajirak-kalguksu(clam noodle), Dak-kalguksu(chiken noodle, not spciy bul-dak), Ojingeo Twigim(fried Squid), Kyochon Original fried chicken(soy garlic chicken), Miyeok-guk(Seaweed soup) As a Korean, I don't like spicy food, so I recommended a few popular Korean food that aren't spicy at all.

I have wanted to go to south Korea since watching the Korean Englishman channel on KZbin. You’ll pick up some Korean and get ideas of where to go to if you watch any of his series where he takes people to Korea.
