Makes me think about the original shop and all the motorcycles at the place 2 doors down. I’ll never forget the time one guy was showing off and curbed his bike and went right over the bars. Lolol

Just found your Channel I really enjoy your commitment to making it right, the way break down dyno run. What the problems are and what corrections are being done. Going to watch a few more of your videos but I think you have a new follower keep doing what you do I enjoy it and don't let the visitors stress you out too much put up some signs if you really don't want people to watch

Depending on mileage the valve springs on coyotes are sensitive to back pressure. Single 80mm on my coyote and I nosed over early too. I didn’t have enough time to collect data on cam angles.

I wondered the same thing about valve springs. Not uncommon on Gen 1 Coyotes (Gen 2 Coyotes got the BOSS 302 Spring, so marginally better from my understanding). Convince them to measure back pressure and see what it shows on that kit. My guess is too much.

I have noticed that most americans chose to use single turbos with way to little airflow capacity. I suspect you do not study compressormaps very much.

Not every day is a good day. Having issues with a car compounded by 100 looky Lous and jerk bikes chainsawing in your ear all day. But, it still beats clock punchin and working for someone else. Another good video. You aren't complaining. You're being honest. Guys who put videos out where everything goes perfect 1st try and they're all smiles every video are full of 💩.

Do you log pre and post intercooler pressure ever? I've seen some pretty sh***y intercooler setups drop boost like crazy. Also LOL at 76mm turbo being described as "little tiny turbo".

Yea sometimes. I’ve seen that one go both ways. No pressure loss or a ton of pressure loss. I’ve seen crappy intercoolers kill a ton of power

@@JoeSimpsonAtTempest I fixed one car that had a ton of drop across the intercooler by using the post intercooler pressure as the source for the wastegate. I'd hate to see what the turbine shaft speed was, but it held boost that way.

Have a look at a compressormap or two and remember the horisontal line is like hp/10 and 2.0 PR at the vertical scale is 15 psi boost. This will doble the NA engines airflow.

Google tells me that Coyote engine delivers about 460 hp, right? That is about 46 lb/min of airflow. Looking at a turbocharger compressormap, 15 psi boost is at about the 2.0 line at the vertical PR scale. I doubt very much a turbo with only 76 mm inducer can supply 92 lb/min of air at 2.0 PR within the 70% eff. island on the compressormap. ( A S475SX3 can deliver up to about 76 lb/min at 2.0 PR, no links allowed on YT.) I have noticed that it is really common to use a way to little turbocharger airflow capacity when using a singel turbocharger on a modern V8 engine. The reason being cost. Twin turbo is cheaper than a large single turbo with adequate capacity. ;)

78mm is the most common street car turbo size on a v8 for the LS platform. For this particular car i never would have chosen a 76 but they picked the kit up used and it’s just what they got. The expensive class legal 76s will make about 1200whp but this is just a standard 76. The argument of twin vs single has been debated for years and it can be argued in both directions being better. 9 times out of 10 it comes down to packaging or simplicity and more racing classes than not ban twin turbos and require a single. For the cars that this engine came out of, twin 62mm is the most common but again its gor packaging purposes that they choose twins as its 2 physically smaller turbos mounted under the car. They seem to make pretty similar power vs this set up. I just tune them i don’t build them or choose the parts

@@JoeSimpsonAtTempest That makes sense. The inducer area of twin 62 is about a single 88 mm turbocharger. This is a correct size for 400 ++ hp NA engine. I know. I have enjoyed your videos for a long time. Smart folks would ask their tuner for advice befor they start the engine build. All tuners have seen lots of mistakes and know what not to do. That is the most importat.

Depends on the car and situation. 99 out of 100 times i prefer the car to be dropped off. I get interrupted 350 times a day which makes the frustration of that even higher when you have somebody there watching you the whole time
