My first “high powered” car was an ep3 type r 54reg. I miss it to this day! Did a check on it a few months back and it’s still on the road 190k miles on it on its last MOT. Passed every time with only a few minors throughout the years, glad it’s still going strong and being looked after. Sold it at 41k wish I kept it even though I’ve had a lot more powerful cars since then but the memories made when having that car tops it all

Love the ep3, fast and light. Had mine up to 155 hard to believe but it's true. Timing chain and bearing in the engine went at 112k

@@solefreak2 They are if you replace the timing chain tensioner, common fault with the K20 unit. Put the right oil in it at the right intervals, don't rag it from cold, it'll run forever.

@@solefreak2 I did my best to save it but after spending over a grand on a timing chain then the first time I gave it a good blast then the horrible noise started. Couldn't be bothered to spend any more so I sold it 600 pound and got a golf R, now I need a clutch lol yes the R is faster but doesn't feel 100 bhp faster as it's a heavy lump, iv never been blown away by the golf R nothing special until you tune it.

@@jamstersmith4625 The Golf R should be a lot quicker than the Type R. I've driven the Honda when they first released, excellent handling but need to be worked hard to gain or feel any speed. In fact my previous diesel 330cd would leave the Type R's on a rolling drag and from stand still.

@@solefreak2 but have you drove the golf R? Mine is manual so alot slower than the dsg. The golf feels so heavy but planted at the same time. My honda had a de cat and I raced loads of ep3 s fn2 and by the end of third gear I'd be well infront. My mate said his subaru was 300 brake and would kill my ep3 so we went for a race. Loved mine! Had to sell it a few months ago due to having my first child, so decided to get something bigger and a BITTTT more sensible...so I got a JDM 98 Subaru Legacy GTB Twin Turbo (Manual) now, cars basically stock minus an exhaust and intake. Standard from the factory with 280bhp and Bilstein Suspension. If that's something you'd want to review, let me know.... I'm in Dudley, West Midlands. Cheers

To everyone saying its a japanese/ jdm car. Its not its ukdm. The were manufactured in Swindon (UK) the only ep3 thats jdm is the championship white edition, which was exported to japan for domestic sale. Then some imported back👍🏼

I really miss my EP3 after some numb nut had no idea what his middle pedal was for... and slammed into the back of me and wrote off my EP3 back in 2013 just before Xmas... I then got the FN2 model Champ White Edition which looked good from the outside... but man alive... it was a massive step backwards performance wise coming from an EP3.. The cons of a FN2:- 1. It's heavier than the EP3.. 2. It has electronic throttle which isn't as sensitive as drive by wire which the EP3 has.. 3. The VTEC X-over is more linear whereas the EP3 VTEC comes in with a jolt... 4. The spoiler running through the back window obstructing your rear view was a dim idea... 5. Torsion beam as oppose to rear independent suspension as on the EP3.. The pros of a FN2:- 1. The interior is a lot nicer with better seats and that split level space age looking dash.. 2. It's Jap.. so you don't have to worry about it breaking down.. Lol In short the FN2 is a grown up Type R. Whereas the EP3 is a hooligan in need of an ASBO! That K20 block you can thrash the f*** out of it.. without the fear of it breaking.... and it will keep on asking for more!

If you want a proper crossover try a b series, they're more aggressive. Also try and get in an eg, ek or dc2, they're more raw than EP3's

Its my car and yeah it smokes a little its not so much in tec but on initial press of the throttle, stem seals need doing will get it sorted soon, bought the car stock in September and done all this so far, sorting the oil is next on the list but car drives spot on
