The gloves are used because he has a suede/alcantara steering wheel. It allows you to have more grip/control and also doesn't ruin the material (since oil from your hands makes it go flat/silky).

I use to do this over 15 years ago, also racing on highways. Had a tuned Mitsubishi eclipse and then a tuned RX8. Really miss this stuff. Was feeling some nostolgia recently and bought a 2006 Civic Si. Guess getting old has taken it's toll because after getting it I can't drive like I use to, makes me feel to irresponsible. Still feel I want to tune it, but don't see the point now.

Yeah... that's why their prices have been going up by quite a lot in the last 5 years (at least here in Europe). On major websites, I've noticed a stock EG6 with around 100 000km to 150 000km used to be 4 000€ to 6 000€, 5 years or so ago, in decent conditions - maybe 7 000€ or 8 000€ for the slightly better kept ones. These days, the ones with 150 000km to 200 000km+ (stock) are 8 000€ or more and in less than preferable conditions. The ones with less than 150 000km, stock, and in decent conditions tend to go for around 12 000€ or more. There are still some good ones that pop out once in a while for a reasonable price, but they get swept up quite quickly (in 2 to 4 weeks usually). Civics are nice, but they're not "12k+ € / 150k km+ / 27 years old" nice. Same thing seems to happen to a lot of popular cars: - Lancer EVOs with decent KMs, stock and left side wheel used to be around 20 000€ - now it's 30 000€ to 35 000€ or more, still stock, with a shitty amount of KMs. - Subaru's are in a similar state as EVOs, with around 5 000€ to 7 000€ difference. - Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4, stock, with around 120 000km in decent conditions, used to be 8 000€ to 10 000€ - now it's 13 000€+, with 130 000km+. - Toyota Supra MK4, twin turbo, stock, ~120 000km, left side wheel, used to be 25 000€ to 35 000€. Now, that same car (most of the time with close to 200 000km) is 45 000€ or more. - Not even gonna mention the GT-Rs (R31-R34)... absolutely insane. This thing applies to other ones such as the Golf R32, Volvo 850 T-5R Saloon (if you even find one rofl), Mazda RX8, Mazda RX7 (aaayyy lmao), BMW M3 E30/36/46, and so on... absolute disapppointment... and it's gonna get worse.
