The Dark Side Of Led Zeppelin: (Led Zeppelin Life Story) Once upon a time, in the late 1960s and early 1970s, there was a band called Led Zeppelin. They were four young musicians who possessed an unrivalled talent and a burning desire to conquer the world of rock and roll. Led Zeppelin quickly rose to fame, not only for their groundbreaking music but also for their larger-than-life personalities and their extravagant lifestyle. As their success soared, Led Zeppelin became known for their excesses, pushing the boundaries of rock and roll hedonism to new heights. They were notorious for their wild parties, fueled by copious amounts of drugs and alcohol. Their hotel rooms would be transformed into legendary scenes of debauchery, with groupies, fans, and hangers-on indulging in every conceivable vice. During this golden age of rock 'n roll groupies, Led Zeppelin epitomised rock-star recklessness and excess. While any band might have groupies, Zeppelin took the depravity to another level - at least, that's what rock 'n roll legend says. The band was already known for their wild antics, which included trashing hotel rooms, driving motorcycles through buildings, throwing televisions out of hotel room windows, getting cursed by filmmaker Kenneth Anger, and the accusations of subliminal satanic messages hidden in their songs. But perhaps the most infamous of their stories are the ones that involved the defilement of masses of females who threw themselves at the band. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Subscribe To The Remember This KZbin Channel Here ► geni.us/RememberThisChannel ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ 💥 History and Nostalgia Channel (20th Century History Documentaries)💥 Welcome to the Remember This KZbin History and Nostalgia Channel where we discuss thought provoking subject matter from recent the recent past to modern day... get ready for 20th Century History Documentaries content on all things from conspiracy theories to real events and how they shaped our lives. I can't deny their talent as musicians, writing some of the most icon rock songs from the 70's. But this is some really dark and deviant behaviour by any measure. I see them now in a different light now after reading Led Zeppelin - The Biography by Bob Spitz. That book was eye opening to say the least, zero filters.

@@precbsfender I see. Do you think they regret their relations with underage groupies for instance? Have they commented on it? I've only read that Plant has said he understands if people look back on Zeppelin and consider the behaviour towards women problematic, he says he even feels the same way sometimes.

@@ryaneijkholt4220There were no rules back then. You know? There is no etiquette or rules set up for rock bands yet. So they were able to pretty much do whatever they wanted to! They ruled the world.

I saw Jimmy Page and Robert Plant a couple of times when I lived in New Orleans French Quarter back in the mid 70's. Led Zeppelin like to stay at the Royal Orleans Hotel. I lived in an apartment next door to that hotel when I was just a skinny long haired teenager. The hotel would open the 1st floor street side bar for them, and then open the patio doors so they could see the view of Royal Street early in the AM before the tourist woke up so they could have the bar to themselves for a few hours.

I think it is appropriate to me mention that John Paul Jones was NOT a pat of this! He was a family man, often traveled with his family, stayed in other hotels than the rest of the band, flew on other planes, was not into drugs.

@@HistoryandNostalgiaChannel He was probably my biggest influence as a player and it was a tragedy really because the alcoholism was actually affecting his playing at the end. He didn’t beat his addiction and it could just as well have been Jimmy because he was really in a bad way as well. So bad in fact that his contributions to the last album were minimal and JPJ had to take the reigns. So in that way their lifestyles did matter because it caught up to them in the end and affected the music to the point that it ended the band with Bonham’s death.

Let's get this straight once and for all - it was only one half of the band who truly indulged in this debauched lifestyle, that was Bonham and Page. John Paul Jones was a devoted family man and even though Plant would have had is fair share of dalliances and drugs at the start, he consciously began to distance himself from this carnage; he said by 1975 he would prefer to go back after a gig and read Nietzsche! Have you ever heard one story ever of him being addicted to drugs or drink at any point in the band's history? Essentially Plant was a countryside loving hippy at heart, as his lyrics often revealed. Apart from Bonzo and Page, the true revellers and culprits were the road crew and the general hangers on, led by the tour manager Richard Cole, a real nasty violent bastard by all accounts. There was an almost mafia like culture to this cabal, which along with the threatening presence of manager Peter Grant could often be violent to anyone who got in their way in the process. In short, by the mid career of this relatively short-lived band, Page was a full blown herion addict, Bonham was an alcoholic and the other two were clean. And by through the second half of the 70's, the band gradually imploded, finally collapsing with Bonham's alcohol related death in 1980. If you want evidence of their decline, look how bloody lousy they got in concert in the second half of that decade, not to mention the two pretty average albums they produced within that period, when Page seemed to have lost most of his genius on the way.

Plant was, by some reports, quite into alcohol early on (though not anywhere near the same level as Bonham obviously but more than Page or Jones) and slowed down when he saw the physical effect it had on Bonham (and was starting to have on himself). He also quite got into the painkillers after his accident (though who could blame him?) So, he definitely had his struggles, though nothing on the level of Bonham, Page or Cole (or even Grant and the white stuff). And yes, Cole was one nasty piece of work for sure.

Cruelty to fish, hounds &snakes is just deeply wrong. I prefer the tour stories where they ended up in far flung places recording the street musicians, or played at some remote club in India. This stuff is embarrasing. Sounds like they got bored and very out of it.
