Price and weight are impressive, and hub design is a known winner. Most importantly tho...would like more feedback on how they ride? Stiffness, compliance etc.

I mean if you're near that limit then there's no real point in pursuing light wheels.

When compared with other’s at that price point. They are hooked bead and that’s always going to be better for tubeless with more tire options. They have a Star ratchet free hub. Probably better than most, that have cheap low engagement hubs.

Outside of my rim brake tt bike and track bike, there are no tires I'd want that aren't hookless compatible in 2024.

Aren't lighter in terms of heavy gravel/mtb use means "less robust"? For example Dt swiss rating their wheels in terms of how high the wheel could be up in the air. And there are a clear correlation between weight and how hard landings could be.

I wonder if one person can build a wheel with similiar spec, but lower price, or the economy of scale of CRW (etc) would just simply made it impossible?

@@TheBikeSauce well, that’s not really the crux of OP’s question - if the rim wasn’t properly constructed and it blows apart leaving you paralyzed…. who has legal responsibility for the negligence? SRAM, Shimano, Specialized Roval … they all have registered offices and organizations in Europe and the US. And liability insurance.

@@feedbackzaloop I don’t have to wait. I race and train on two wheelsets - both with Chinese rims (Light Bicycle WR Pro’s) one with DT 180 hubs and the other set with Chris King hubs. I’m a wheel builder. I can build a wheel set with Canadian made carbon rims and real DT spokes and hubs for the same price with better spoke reliability and longer bearing life. I’m sure they are reasonably well built but it seems the price advantage of “Chinese Carbon” has all but disappeared.

Define "better spoke reliability" in context of unspecified* DT spokes vs industry golden standard Sapim CX Ray. * you may have alpines or you could put aerolite or whatnot. Either way DT started to lag behind Sapim and Pillar for couple of years alredy.

Its brand to brand. I bought some very light(310g), wide rims(25mm interval) that are a shallow 30mm but they were $108 per rim. Built them with DT350s and they're 1220g. I'm 190lbs and a strong cat 1. I've never had to true them, not even a low mileage touchup. I was under $700 all in on these wheels. I'll probably buy the wider version for my gravel bike. 25s are what I want on pavement. I'll probably go with 29s.

@@vbnxt I'm not sure what you are talking about. This is a frame build so these will be my "stock" wheels. As for rolling resistance that is tied to your tires and innertubes (if you use innertubes). So its up to you if the weight reduction is worth it over your current set of wheels.
