Was never a lover of Faldo as a player, as I felt he was pretty detached and aloof but have warmed to him in his latter years as a commentator. Seems to have lightened up and I quite like listening to him.

I was a big Faldo fan as a kid...for a few years he kept blowing leads in majors and I wondered if he was going to be yet another British (English) sportsperson who had so much talent but not the mental strength to win. Then he remodelled his swing with David Leadbetter...and finally won the Open in '87. Then he went on to win 6 Majors in total. I'll never forget the back to back Masters wins. Not met him - he seems friendly enough but it's interesting to read comments to the contrary...

Kind of a catty comment about Floyd but at the top level those guys don't go out of their way to make friends. I'm sure Floyd didn't much care for Faldo either. Interesting thing about Nick - other than his 3 wins at Augusta he had no top 10's, whereas Floyd had the won victory by 8 shots in 1976 and 11 top 10's - who was the more consistent competitor?
