I told my husband about your channel and all these crazy parent requests. My GenZ kid overhears this and says "We should send some of these to our teachers on April 1rst for a joke." I was like "jokes are supposed to be funny, and that is a bad idea. I am not that parent."

Regarding the webcam request, during Covid I had a parent record their child’s screen…which meant they recorded all the other kids too. She wanted to prove I was a bad teacher. Instead she got pulled into a meeting with the school’s lawyer and told to delete the footage and never do that again.

When I was in school, I remember every student was required to go to the assemblies. No child there could "opt out". If the child was present that day at school, s/he went to the assembly.
@guccideltacoАй бұрын
My question is, what is this kid going to be doing if they don't go to the assembly? Because my guess is their teachers will all be there as well, so they won't be LEARNING anything during that time anyway.
@kimkimba1131Ай бұрын
I remember liking assemblies. They got us out of classroom studies and unless they were interesting, you could quietly chat with friends or just zone out.
@marinam.2293Ай бұрын
@kimkimba1131 My all-time favorite assembly was in 8th grade during the last week of school year. All of the honor roll students had to attend, but we weren't told why. When we got there, the assembly hall was set up to watch a movie; we got to see "Smokey And The Bandit" (Burt Reynolds, Sally Field, setting the wayback machine) right there at school! Administration also provided snacks: chips, sodas, ice cream sandwiches. To a 12 year old, that was heaven!

@marinam.2293 , That sounds so Fun! Nice when you get a surprise like that at school. 😀

I hated assemblies in school. They could force me to be there, but they couldn't make me care about anything the assembly was about. I usually took a book.

I'm sorry, if your child swallowed some magnets you should take them to the ER, not send them to school! If the magnets attract each other they'll pinch off your child's intestines! And snacks that are gluten, dairy, and nut free? That's a glass of water, unless the parent is willing to buy a mini fridge for the classroom to keep fresh fruit from spoiling.
@booklover3341Ай бұрын
I mean, if there was an actual allergy, yes, I agree those snacks should be available but this was just "She enjoys them".

These crazy parent requests are hilarious. But upon thinking deeper, I feel sorry for teachers being burdened with so many tasks beyond their job description. In addition to academics, teachers are expected to perform duties that should fall to parents, social workers, mental health professionals, dietitians, security etc. It's like expecting someone to make a steak dinner on a ramen budget.

I agree with that last kid, lol. More than half the assemblies I had at school were so boring, when I'd rather be drawing in class because my work is already half-assedely (effort wise) done. Thank God I graduated a decade ago.

The parent who thinks cursive is swearing probably is too much of an idiot to be a parent. I hope the kid, or someone older, will teach the kid cursive anyway as it will be a benefit to the kid as he/she/they get older.
@Csquared168529 күн бұрын
Or the kid went home and mispronounced cursive. My son had a new PE teacher and came home excited that his new teacher was Mancow. I really didn’t think the radio personality, who my husband would listen to on the radio, was his teacher. His name was really Callanan. I had to work with him on the correct pronunciation while trying not to laugh.

I support the stopping school assemblies, anyone? Omg the gulls these people have, do they think that we are their maids? or their kid's personal nannies?
@laurenlieb7979Ай бұрын
I absolutely hate assemblies. As a middle school teacher, you can imagine none of my students care to be performing on stage in front of the whole school. We are required to be in 3 of them each year, and it takes so much away from instruction time to pull students into doing something that they are not at all interested in doing. I hate it so much!
@mam162Ай бұрын

The cursive/cursing note sent me back to mandatory training at a Massage Envy. The misunderstanding was glutes (muscles) and a theoretical client who would refuse to sign off on that work because she was gluten free. That’s how stupid corporate massage is.

To be fair, other than becoming a historian/archeologist, scientist/chemist, there are no job or RL skills that come from learning beyond the basics of those subjects; all they do is put you in debt (college funds). Do not agree with that literature one though.
@hodgeelmwood8677Ай бұрын
The more you know about the world and about human beings, the more effective you will be at any job. It also teaches you empathy and helps you understand other cultures. Our world is in dire straits right now because too many people don't believe they need to know anything but the most basic of skills, and they aren't even good at those, as you can tell from reading almost any comment section anywhere online.
