Not to mention that this is basically a demotion? You earn less as a kindergarten teacher.

I always heard in my school that teachers either liked late highschoolers or kindergarten/grades 1-4 Never the middleschoolers, tbh, I was always in awe of middle school teachers in highschool. The attitude and hormones kicking in is a whirlwind to deal with I imagine.

And how insane is it to ask somebody who's willing to teach Middle School to teach kindergarten? Getting good Middle School teachers is next to impossible. Hilariously she would rather deal with these awful creatures than cute. Kindergartners but if she wants to be there, why would you send her anywhere else?

I was the music teacher for 2 groups of kindergarten (plus whatever else they sent my way 1st to 9th grade) for more than 20 years. I confess the first five years as a teacher, I had the hardest time teaching those kindergartens. I had to sit down with kindergarten teachers in order to learn from them to develop the necessary skills to survive. 😂 After that, I became an expert dealing with them. 😊

As someone who came up through the public education system, teachers are the most over appreciated people there are. Nothing but glorified worksheet printers. Parents, school your own kids. It's only hard in the beginning and far more rewarding in the end.

I used to commute to my school 45 min every day. I can confidently say that i only vividly remember 3 of those commutes. The drive was just open highway into rural Texas. I would just put on some easy listening podcasts and just drive.

So I had a girl bullying me and he was looking up my dree on the money bars and would touch me it was preschool. My dad said he'll no u puch him if he does it again Within two days he got a call he needed to get me because I dropped off the monkey bars kicking him in the face breaking his nose then promptly punched him... There was an ambulance 🚑 dad took me for ice cream . But he would never tolerate disrespect towards authority

Do teachers still not understanding that kids don't want to play like they're parrots? They don't want to talk, they just want to take notes, and not have to actually interact because their brains and patience os fried from door this 8hrs a day, 5 days a week..

As someone who is heading into college to become a elementary school teacher (My classroom, i will teach how to take care of a living thing. A plant) When someone's plant gets a new stem or leaf they get a sticker. Or when they take care of it properly at the beginning of class without being told too. Sttttiiicckkkeerrr

I’m so glad I have to go the other end of the spectrum. I can only teacher middle or high school unless you find me a school that will let me teacher ELA to 5th grade only and all the other teachers have to teach the other subjects.

Yeah seriously. My second year of teaching the kids had 12 tests, and they had cut back due to Covid. It's ridiculous. Forget about agreeing whether testing should happen, can we at least agree that that's too much? Let's compromise: kids have 2 days of testing per year (you don't get to divide it up, you get to run tests on two days) and not one hour more. That's it.

"Why would you want to make people switch grades...?" I thought this was obvious. Staffing is rough. Schools are picking up new staff with limited capabilities. And incoming staff are so needed that they have more negotiating power regarding what class they want to teach. Administration knows that existing staff are more likely to comply to keep the job/benefits and avoid change. On top of that, there are a lot of social media teachers out here talking about how difficult the job is and gossipping about kids and parents. The next generation has been watching all that and many of them dont want any part of it. That reduction in potential teachers is going to make it even worse in a few years.

In my state, middle school and high school teachers are departmental licenses, meaning they can only teach subjects associated with their majors. Elementary teachers have no major or minor. They can only teach K-6. Elementary teachers wanting to teach 5-6 have to have a major and minor.

If my kid goes from being in school to not one day and I have to pay a babysitter that's not helping my financial pressure? It adds an unexpected expense? At least the 4 day work week gives all the parents off so the dpnt need to pay a person to watch the kiss
