As a Dutchman I feel pretty empty after the loss against England. And not even the loosing aspect is the worst thing, it's the 'way' how The Netherlands lost this game. That penalty England got was not a penalty. Dumpries and Kane's shoes were simply colliding after the ball was already gone. As Ronald Koeman pointed out: The VAR is destroying football. How are we supposed to football then? This is a contact sport and if for every contact there is a yellow card or a VAR has to reexamine then players barely dare to play the game anymore. And this equaling the score to 1-1 of course had it's affect on the game. Even though The Netherlands grew stronger in the 2nd half, everybody knows that in the last minutes before end of match, whoever scores basically wins the match. And England scored in the 90th minute. No argument about that goal. But if you have left out the penalty then it would have still been 1-1 (or maybe a bigger number due to more Dutch opportunistic soccer playing with a 1-0 advantage). The ref was definitely not in the Dutch favor, and there is also a story around this ref with bribe scandals etc. Anyway, what I would miss the most is all these great fans that created this hype of going to the left and going to the right and showing up with 100,000 people (jeeezz Louise) in Dortmund. That's insane. And if The Netherlands had won maybe this number would have increased to 150,000 people, all doing to same hyped dance. But it is over now. Thanks to the referee and the VAR (which also disqualified a goal NL made against France in the poule phase). If you are an England fan, yeah, both our teams did not played that great. Not a single team did great. Neither Germany, Portugal, Italy and a few other favorites. The exception is Spain. So my guess is that Spain will win from England.
