They've just abandoned so many of the packages/archetypes with these mini-set support cards. Where is automaton priest support, or Ra-Den support? Why are we getting barely one overheal card? Why is it all just undead priest or control priest AGAIN. Where is Plague DK? They've just completely dropped the ball with archetypes this set imo

I think - hopefully - that team 5 is actually doing the opposite and pushing support for previous archetypes -I hope we get support for aforementioned decks next set but at least they aren't giving 1 set decks anymore (hopefully) since rainbow dk and undead priest are from previous xpacs.

Oof... No plague support for DK, which was its whole package this time around? That's ROUGH... I really hope to see some plague support going forward, and maybe even make it an evergreen DK effect, especially since all 3 DK speccs utilize plagues in World of Warcraft.

Same for paladins, they've already abandoned the earthen package. That pala spell that damages ALL minions too... Just random crap.

They'll probably add at least one to the miniset at the end of the year. Honestly I think the package is fine. People go too hard for it when you just need Helya and any cards that support your deck's main plan.

The one off auchenai soulpriest is weird because don't most undead priests run darkbishop which locks out most healing

It locks out non shadow spells, not healing. Just to be technical. But he rotates out and a new big heal might make this worth it as a finisher.

Regarding the shadowtouched kvaldir, it doesn't say "this turn". I'm not very familiar with the deck list, but since it has the undead tag, if you can find a spot, then also add "grace of the highfather", suddenly undead priests gets 8-16 damage to face. Maybe that's worth?

You would never run that in undead priest. Cards that requires specific synergy to be moderately good won't make the cut in high tier decks

You could add that but then your Benedictus would not trigger, because Grace of the Highfather is a Holy spell. I don't think that's a worthy trade.

My dad will love Soulburner Varia: he plays Undead Priest, but his own value-heavy version of it. So a minion that gives him cards *and* inflicts damage? Perfect addition.

It is rainbow support. The U cards cover weaknesses in both U and rainbow pretty well and the B card allows you to spend corpses for a useful weapon.

First thought was grimewalker into cultist for a full clear... not even that works because "after" instead of "whenever". Probably the only thing that woulda made it viable and not even strong, weird design choice.

What a load of crap. Nothing looks particularly fun or synergistic. Where's the plague support, where's the earthen pally support. Still waiting on a Tier 2/3 deck for climactic explosion or cage head but it seems a lot of cool legendaries are made but without any thought what's needed to make them work.

Twilight torrent finally fits well with the 4 manna card with the deal 5 overhead effect. Not enough before felt like it would hit that breakpoint in my opinion

So Priest now have Rastakhan warlock epic card as legendary but only for undeads. well it's good time for OTK in wild and maybe standard.

Wild is too competitive for slow "OTK's" and I can't even imagine it in standard. What combo would that be?

Varia is okay, it has the right stats to be annoying. Sinister soulcage probably a more mid unholy, where you cheat corpses but spend them on bonus effects for many cards rather than save them up for a Lord Marrowgar. Runes of Darkness, thinking amazing if was limited to DK weapons, with all classes and a blood rune plus spending 3 corpses for +1/1 seems clunky. Keepers strenght seems very ackward, can't improve on what Regis said, however it possibly insane that it is in Prison of Yogg cycle. Alarmed Securitybot just the worst, in that it will only see play to fetch Thaddius and such. Muscle-o-tron, looks quite bad, if there any need to compete for board more than already do against mech rogue maybe, but don't think there is. Maybe all it does is allow Eldris in pure Paladin. Void scripture, seems perfectly strong in cost and synergy. Tainted Remnant, fine card, if it said only board/minions maybe a tool vs mech rogue or dude-paladin. No current mage seems to wanna take a break from cycle spells to play this type of minion. Meddlesome servant, currently no reason to draw two with this over the standard spell.

Soulburner really feels like a win more card. If you have enough undead on the board to really make it worth while you are likely already winning the game.

I think a plague DK's worst matchup is blackrock n roll warrior. and Sickly Grimewalker could help clear the big threats since the only way to gain removal is to use vizier or school teacher and high roll. With this, your hero power and undead summoned from plagues or plague strike (or if you are at 9 mana, hollow hound) become big removal tools. Could be a better tech than the silence starfish.

No one plays that warrior archetype high ranks since it's too slow. Grimewalker is also too slow and pretty bad, there's been many cards like this in both Rogue and Hunter that gives x minions poisonous and they were never good (except in arena). But hey maybe in low ranks it'll be okay

It depends on what you want to go for. I stick to lower ranks (at most usually platinum) and as a f2p player you can generally make some useable and fun decks to nab you wins here and there. They've been holding events for free packs and the minisets for 2000 gold are a good deal. Plus if you have the time to grind a vit more gold you can get golden packs which give you way more dust yield so you can craft more cards. Essentially, starting out you'd have to stick to more homebrew stuff that WILL be able to win at lower rank but after maybe a month or two you could prob get enough dust to craft a meta deck if you want. It depends on how much time you have to play

The expansion feels weird to me. Lacking in support to some of the archetypes while pushing random other archetypes that don´t exist currently. Plus, only some classes get yog tendril support, other don´t. Yog himself is a titan for some reason. His effects aren´t as "random". Feels off to me.

Forge effects often seem to be worth more than their 2 mana cost (most obviously the one that discounts a spell by 3). Muscle-o-Tron? You're paying 2 mana for the battlecry effect of a 2-mana card that doesn't see constant play. It's more expensive than a card that isn't a staple? No thanks.
