@@humanofthehumanoids Here is the thing. I got whoopings as a kid and I turned out to be angry because of it. As humans our brains are all different and we all respond differently to physical punishments. Lots of kids who does get spanked and got whoopings just grew up to have anger problems just like me. I get the meaning behind whoopings and spankings but some kids will take after what the parents do and copy them or will have mental consequences due to the parents actions.

I used to work at a daycare and everyone couldn’t figure out how I was able to change the children’s bad behaviors. Simple. Remember that EVERYTHING is brand new to them. When is as adults tell them “no”, they need to know WHY!! You can’t just say no and stick them in a corner. where I worked we had what was the equivalent of a “naughty chair”. As per company policy, it was part of my job to put them there when they were acting up. Instead of yelling no at them and putting them in the chair, I would pick them up to carry them over so they would be at my level as to not seem demonstrative over them, and calmly explain why I was placing them in the chair, and tell them WHY so that they had a better understanding of the situation. Worked every time.

I used to hate when my mom would say “because I’m the mom and I said so “ when I would ask why? My dad on the other hand told me why . And he spanned me one time bc I was actually a descent kid. He warned me to allow him to pour the gallon milk into my cereal. He said if I spill it he will spank me. 😂 Of course I spilled it and he spanked me. As an adult I messed with him about my spanking , he said he had to because he said he was going to spank me and if he didn’t , I would lose respect for him. Miss you dad 😥

That’s called raising your children and correcting them in their youth. Abuse would apply if I said he constantly did it and the punishment was harsh and somewhat v(i)olent that’s abuse. That’s why kids nowadays are driving teachers by the THOUSANDS because of kids that are allowed to do anything they want and no consequences. Let’s take father /daughter out of the equation for a second? If you knew someone who always broke their promises would u still respect them? 😒 Of course not , THUS the reason he had to do it which wasn’t excessive. The last thing any parent should want is a child who doesn’t respect and honor them. I had a friend years ago who thought getting a dog would help her semi-rocky relationship with her boyfriend. It didn't. The relationship began to get slowly worse. She then thought that having a kid with him would help. It didn't. She's now a single mother. Having kids is not a magical fix and I'm unsure why so many people think it will be.

I’m old (50) so I got some old school punishments like getting my ass whacked with a wooden spoon or a fly swatter (whatever my mom had in her hand) and once I had to sit with a bar of soap in my mouth because I said a bad word. My kids didn’t really get spankings, it was more time outs in a chair, losing toys… My oldest got a light spank and a time out in the chair for kicking me in the face when I was trying to take his shoes off and he pitched a tantrum. He caught me right in the nose. He got a god talking to from both of us about that one. My youngest was the biggest problem. He didn’t learn from normal discipline but from old school example learning. He used to bite. He once bit my oldest so bad… I’m surprised he doesn’t still have marks from it today. Nothing had worked up to that point and that was the breaking point. I used my grandmother’s method. I bit him back, not hard but hard enough that it hurt a bit. He yelled and started to cry. I yelled at him and asked if it felt good, he tearfully said no. I asked if he thought it felt good when he did it to his brother, he tearfully said no. I told him never do it again. He stopped after that because he finally got it. This was also the same kid that when we told him not to touch the burner, it was hot, he touched it and burned his hand 🤦🏻‍♀️ It’s like he never believed what we told him and always had to find out for himself. It was frustrating.

The soap used to be a punishment for swearing to "wash their mouth out" but now, since soap doesn't taste bad like it used to, it's not such a deterrent as a harmless punishment anymore.

This is literally close to how my parents act. Even to the point she yells at the top of her lungs, (we weren't even that bad of kids) now she wonders why we're always so quiet when she walks into the room with us, we got yelled at for everything we did pretty much, even smacked us with anything she had in her hand, she once threatened to smack me with the stirry thing she was cooking food with. And she wonders why her kids don't like her/talk to her lol!

Words are more clear than violence. I dont believe in using violence to teach children. With the way i grew up, i learned that my parent used words as weapons. So verbal abuse is also worse than physical abuse. I swear children are way too misunderstood.

It’s actually possible to put a child’s life at risk by using soap to wash out their mouth…allergic reactions, throat swells up, can’t breathe, intestinal issues…I also read a child went blind due to this being done by their parent, really sad story.

I’m a gen x’s raised in 70’s. I ate soap constantly. My brother and I compared flavors. Dial was the worst! Redkin was ok and Lava… really cleaned out our tongues. I never grew up with a desire to eat soap. So then I progressed to cussing… mom progressed to coating my tongue with cream of tarter. 🤮. We were never ever at this level.

That woman looks WAY older than 25!!! 🧐 I also noticed that her oldest daughter was 7 years old...meaning she gave birth to her when she was only 18, and most likely got pregnant at 17! I only take jote of these things because I used to watch Supernanny a lot for parenting advice/tips, and it used to annoy me when people called me a "young mother," because I had my first child when I was 21 years and 11 months old (almost 22!)
