I find it very interesting how everyone says "wrist grabbing is unrealistic training" and yet the first thing this guy does is grab both of the wrists. If you maintain proper body mechanics, you could buy yourself a split second to maneuver this to your advantage. But overall he behaved like a bouncer who is trying to restrain you, so the solution is - don't piss off bouncers ;)

Exactly, in this case the objective is to deliver high-low devastating strikes with plenty of momentum/oomph behind them, as quickly as possible, and NOT to stop till the opponent/aggressor is completely out of commission. This is a life or death, self defense street fighting scenario, not competition sparring, so anything goes. The person that uses his head, remains clam, doesn't let his ego get in the way, controls his fear, fights intelligently, makes every move count, attacks first, isn't scared of getting hit, targets key vulnerable areas, attacks the fastest, and attacks the hardest with a vengeance usually wins (albeit, that is a tall order that's best honed in with plenty of practice).

Love you videos my man and also it's good to see that we are seeing tactics for big guys that can be used against smaller aggressive guys as well because a lot of people don't focus on big guys doing things that could be advantageous to them if they are encountered with an aggressive smaller guy.👍👏

What he's doing is actually really smart. He's basically nullifying every advantage that a small person might have over a bigger person (speed, agility), and maximizing his opportunities to use his advantages (power, bulk). Pretty smart.

The sucker punch is great. The tricks prisoners used were first disarm the opponent- The acting I saw as a prison guard when inmates would start steaming up, were Academy Award worthy. I learned to watch the lips. When lips turn white around the colored part (in white guys), look out. In black guys, I started watching the next tense. Also the direction of the shoulders. When the shoulder was casually, almost imperceptibly, pre-positioned to point to the opponent, the strike was imminent. Where to place the punch was also - I noticed, was incredibly canny. They did not strike just generally at the head with the sucker punch, but at the place between the curve of the jaw and the ear. That is instant KO, even for the big guys. Also, the biggest advantage anyone has is their experience in fighting. Not in the ring, but in the street, bars, and such. Street or prison fighting is not a trained skill- it is a learned by experience skill. My personal safety was developed over years with verbal skills. But, then I also knew my inmates and who was feral and who was short-timer, who as really dangerous and absolutely not to be messed with carelessly. sizing up the opponent quickly, I think, is probably a damned essential skill. Maintaining distance, acting skillfully, positioning, reading the bad guy, use your mouth as skillfully as you would your arms, hands and legs. And also, hopefully, you can stay controlled. I would see guys get tricked into anger response- absolutely lose their minds and their self control and just start windmilling, while the antagonist would smile and let the poor guy walk right into that big slam. And that sucker punch is used by both the aggressor and defender. That old saying, "Surprise, Mutherfuker!" is very true. I also saw the "Shock slap" used effectively. When some 'Kid" (a term used to denote an aggressive, emotional, mouthy punk would come out all super aggressive with his mouth, experienced cons know just what to do, "Sa-lap!", I mean, no words, no eyes wide, just a determined turn and a vicious and very painful face slap so hard it would knock the guy down. And then would come the dominance move. just like dogs, standing over the guy, spit on him, shame him, drag him- something like that do totally dominate the guy and the fight was over. I called it "Instant Escalation". Most often when I would see that move, I would just smile and walk away- didn't see a thing. It's amazing how that would keep those kids under control. Anyway, great vid, guys. This is the kind of training people- everyday people- really need. All that Jackie Chan "Junk-fu" shit just get's people hurt.

Thanks. I’m not a small guy but certainly no trained fighter. I always worry about intervening against large men who are aggressive with my wife or children in a worst case scenario. There are tough guys who like to intimidate and talk shit to women who actually say no and have boundaries for some reason. They’re looking for a fight I guess. The more you watch these the more you realize your best option is try to AVOID a confrontation if at all possible. A lot can go wrong if it escalates. You’ve helped me greatly to know if it comes to that you must commit to end it quickly and get away. Don’t try to be a tough guy. Great stuff. Hopefully it’s never needed.

I think we're getting somewhere. The shorter guy is a bit faster and has to use every window of opportunity. This implies that if possible we should never let the other guy attack first. As soon as we know he's threatening us and he's managed to corner us (#1 mistake against bigger guys), we have to strike first. Otherwise he's always at an advantage. I guess we should also resort to psychological tricks. Maybe making ourselves appear passive and physically weak? To create an element of surprise. I remember this one time many years ago when a guy my size was a bit drunk and looking for trouble. I was a young teen and naive, so he managed to corner me without me knowing what was going on (fortunately for me some stranger came by and the guy instantly chickened out). I remember I had a lot of opportunities to do stuff and escape even though I was physically weaker. The reason I didn't was psychological, I felt dominated and helpless so I didn't take chances. I was not mentally weak, but I was afraid of escalating the situation. This is also why I totally understand women who just give up in these situations. So I remember I had many opportunities, and I'm convinced it was because I appeared like I completely gave in to the guy. He felt a false sense of power which made him extremely overconfident, and that greatly increased my chances because he dropped his guard completely.

+ETBrooD Yeah I agree, if you are passive but in control it will help you. I think its all a matter of knowing your limits. I also really believe size doesnt matter, theres some guy almost twice as big as me who were easier to take down then a guy who was 5"8 just because of their stance and technic. Stay safe brother!

I love wrestling rather than throwing hands. When an aggressor comes at me, I grapple and try to strangle the shit out of 'em. I am a giant, that is confronted by shorter bullies from time to time. I watched this video closely, and I realized the wall behind the smaller guy helped the big guy out much. What if that wall was not there? How would the big guy defend himself then?

I know you trained with Richard Dimitri and Senshido many years. I think Mr Dimitri is very good. The concept with the Shredder is very good but as you clearly demonstrated in the end of this video it is not always working even if you start with your hands in your enemys face. Like all the techniques in the world; sometimes they will not work. The pre-emptive attack is very very important and if that tactic does not work I think it very good to try to get control over the head and at the same time strike/choke or take the enemy to the ground with a head takedown but you should remain standing and then kick or stomp. If you end up on the ground with your enemy try to get control over the head and at the same time strike/choke. I am talking about a situation when your life is under serious threat and have no option but to defend yourself. In a nutshell; Pre-emptive attack-continuous attack with a lots of aggressiveness and speed. Peace.

rayman5432 you mean larger by weight then? Well I can't speak from personal experience cause I'm extremely light but fast (65kg), but from what I've seen and from what I know I think bull rushing or knocking down an opponent and wrestling him on yhe floor should do it. I have been as all men have wrestling for fun with my friends and I can tell you that when someone with over 80 kg sits on my chest I can barely breathe. So if you're big and heavy go for the ground, if you're light and nimble do not.

***** That is very true but some large guys really are just big softies and this can be picked up on either from body language, overhearing them or confronting them and seeing how they react. Though I'm sure our young age played a factor I was friends with a fairly large guy, probably twice my weight and at least half a foot taller and he was as terrified of a guy my size as I was. Of course then you can get into the whole is the attacker on drugs, do they have a weapon, type stuff but that's by the by.

I heard "his size" a lot. You're still over 6 feet tall right? I'm 5'4" so even you're a big guy to me. Against guys like Moose I've found that getting a little lower or ducking punches is a lot easier. Of course in a street fight that could lead to getting kicked or maybe an easy grab, but for my size, ducking a big guy's punch and I'm in perfect position for a groin shot.

WRONG !! Very wrong. I like your video's Nick but this one is dangerous. The rule when fighting anyone that has a particular bull like body type is assume they don't know how to fight, which will be true in 90 % of the cases. Then initiate a quick first strike while being ready to back away and most important expect a charging opponent. That big man has won all of his past fights by lunging forward just as he did in this video. You simply have to accept your going to hit your back on the ground but in the end you keep him moving. Which is easy. Then you will find your self on top in a mount , half mount or crucifix which at that point the fight is over. The other option is keep backing and quick engages but right back out. Play Bull Fighter. The much larger man will fatigue just from one lunge. Make him attempt 3. Then pick him apart with distance. Your advice is risky. Unnecessary exposure to counters. If "Moose" is able to hit you your dead anyway. You know damm well he can't hit you. Not if you don't want him to. He was breathing hard in this video after a lunge with wrist control.. Your smarter than that.
