BANGKOK, THAILAND - Without doubt the best pad thai in Bangkok, maybe even the best pad thai in Thailand. Pad thai is one of the most famous Thai street food dishes in Thailand and no trip to Bangkok is complete without eating it at least once. I must admit, I have never really been a fan of pad thai. It is normally too sweet for me. However, I was recommended this amazing pad thai by Gary, The Roaming Cook. He said it would change my view on pad thai forever. Guess what... It did. I ordered the pad thai kata rawn, which is the pad thai hot plate with prawns and snacks. The preparations is as amazing as the food. It is cooked right on the street over a gas flame which is like something you would find on the back of a rocket. The atmosphere is perfect if you are looking for an authentic Thai food experience in Bangkok. The flavour is something you will have to go and find out for yourself.

Squeeze lime into Pad Thai, put bean sprout (mung bean) in, and sprinkle dried red chilli a little bit or more to enhance spiciness favor. Eat Pad Thai with fork and spoon and occasionally pick green veggie and chew it. When Pad Thai was promoted by Field Marshall Pibulsongkram just before WWII as a national dish, it was supposed to be cheap but delicious. However, nowadays the price range can be dirt cheap about US$1 on the street to $10 in 5-star hotel. You can even buy one at the price of $1 (35 baht) freshly cooked on local market but with no prawn as prawn is expensive. Pad Thai with prawn can be had on the street at the price around 60-80 baht ($1.5-2.0).

Mr. Parrilla. I've enjoyed the videos you've posted since I subscribed, but I fear you are falling into the common trap of posting the same content as those who have gone before and are, frankly, at this moment in your career, far better than yourself. Case in point. 'Thai Cowboy', who has been covered already by all the top Thai food vloggers. If you want to grow, you're going to need to find original content, or at least an original format. At the moment, you risk becoming a hodgepodge of Messers Wiens, Stotch, Doyle and even your mate Butler...to name a few. I hope you try to differentiate yourself as you do have potential in what is and over-populated market.
@pannachawangkul585
@pannachawangkul585 Жыл бұрын
It's difficult to differentiate oneself from others when everyone wants to eat the same thing, unless Joe learns to make facial expressions of Mark Wiens which sometimes I find annoying, or Paddy Dolye's rushes through each dish where mispronunciation is a norm, yet I find him to be, in a weird way, amusing. Gary Butler's deep understanding of Thai food ingredients with understandable Thai language skills make him right up there with Micky Stotch. Joe is still up and coming, it will takes a bit longer to carve out a niche for himself. What would you do differently?
@jonnywas2665
@jonnywas2665 Жыл бұрын
@@pannachawangkul585 You are obviously well versed in this genre... well met. I agree with the majority of your comments, except to say that Mr. Wien's vlogs 4 or 5 years ago were far better than what his entourage puts out now...the price of fame I guess. I don't really look on Mr. Doyle as a food vlogger, so I will excuse him. Mr. Stotch, in my view, broke the mould (I'm British so I can spell hehe), but now he's leaving...just as I was about to sponsor him. Still not sure about Butler...he can be a little too much of an English Expat sometimes, with all the misguided arrogance that tends to bring with it, and if he's a chef I'm yet to see it...I am, so prove it. In terms of Mr. Parrilla..I get the feeling he has a lot to say, but so far his vlogs are copies...all I was saying is he needs to be original...This is South East Asia...it really shouldn't be that difficult.. Thanks so much for the response though...I don't often get one hehe
@hungrytoexplore
@hungrytoexplore Жыл бұрын
I don’t usually respond with big long comments but I think you mean well, so I will. I only started taking KZbin seriously 7 months ago and have been doing it for about a year. I’d never filmed or edited before. It’s a hobby rather than a career. But for me, it’s a long term hobby, I’m not looking to be an overnight sensation. Let’s put it this way, when you learn to play guitar, you don’t write original music, you learn covers. When you know the basics and develop your skill you then have the knowledge to become original. What I have tried not to be is like the vast majority of people who make the same videos; with the same titles, with the same style, from country to country. So to compare me to the people you did in style is a compliment, but I think my personality is original, whilst I learn the ropes. Equally, I’m not a Thai food KZbinr. I started my travels with 6 months in Thailand, my channel is about 4 months behind me, I’m no longer in Thailand. But that also shows you, the videos you see were filmed just a few months into my KZbin journey and you compare me to people who have been doing it for double digit years in one form or another. I just try to make the best videos I can and in time I’ll find me feet and carve my own section of the pie. You’ll also find… everything on KZbin has been done before… there are just so many now. So it’s inevitable that many videos will be similar. Thanks for your comments. Just know it’s something I think about a lot , frequently,

On the plus side, I didn't see a bowl of sugar on the table. This is a good sign as most pad Thais are too sweet. Many Thai people unfortunately want sugar in everything, especially lunch time noodle dishes. On the minus side, those big buckets of water for washing means this food stall is a health risk. You simply cannot have good food hygiene without running water. Don't be fool by locals eating nonchalantly at these stalls, they have stronger stomachs than visitors. Most will have already contracted hepatitis A in the past and so are immune.

He isn't just a food stall, he has a bricks and mortar area too. I think this place is all good, although yes I agree, sometimes you do need to be careful. But I think it is all part of street food too. You cannot expect a sanitised restaurant experience.

I’m Thai and I hate this restaurant , he open the restaurant but why he is cooking on the footpath???? that’s illegal. How can someone cooking on the footpath, they pay the officers every month to allowed. This is the dark side of Thai street food , it’s about the government officers corruption😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡 Give back footpath and space for people walking😡😡😡😔😔😔😔😔

haha, it is what it is man. So many people do this in Bangkok, for example all the street stalls in front of 7-Eleven. Cooking on the street is part of culture surely. We would all be unhappy if it was gone. Anyway, he has moved onto the other side now so there is plenty of space for both :)
