Regarding pineapple cake: unfortunately, some of the less expensive brands don't use real pineapple for the filling. They use a squash or some type of gourd as substitute.

Love the way u describe the flavor of bánh mì : it’s sweet , crunchy , sour from pickles …in short different tastes in one bite still they can’t be mingled . That is the soul of Vietnamese foods !

I expect to spend 3 days in the area of Chiang Rai Starting from Chiang Mai and I really want to see the Phu Chi Dao or FA in the Morning.

I was here last month, December 2024. All I can say is that the food is overhyped. It's not bad, but there's nothing special about it either. Everywhere you go, it smells like cigarettes because people are smoking everywhere. The streets are dirty. The staff in hotels and restaurants lack hospitality. And the pork is overcooked or tough. You can't say anything bad about the nature and history of the place, though. For me, if I rate Georgia. It's 7/10.

Joe I stumbled on this while down a rabbit hole on Taiwan night market food. I visited Taipei 3 times about 20 years back, once to speak at a conference at which we were treated very well when it came to trying local food, and then a couple more times delivering hands-on training which meant spending a lot of time at night markets for dinner as well. I stayed near NTU (Gonguan) so very close to the first place where you have the flat pancake. So, recently I thought I'd do a YT deep dive to try and remember what the things were called in a bid to see if I could find them in London. Anyway I got to your channel among others and realised that we have a link - I lived in Alderney for a year so know your mum and dad, and I used to treat Hamish at the AAWS (as nurse). Great content mate and please say hello to mum and dad. What a small world indeedy......

Very nice! I’m currently back to Phrae, been coming here for 23 years, my stays range from a month to a year. My children were born and currently still live here. This trip I do have a drone and want to re visit all the places I know and try to record some nice memories. Thanks for posting and enjoying this treasure province of Thailand. I’m thankful that most visitors to Thailand over look this place I call home .

Watching from the south of France, where the day temperature is 3 degrees Celsius and very foggy. Crazy as it sounds, I can't wait to go back to London where it is "warmer " at 6 degrees.

My last day in BKK i spent the day on the Chao Phraya. Boat rides gave me a sense of calm. I really wish to make it this year so that i can fully purchase a house in Thailand (BKK).
