I don't think electric or super-sonic airliners will ever be a thing. I expect that, in the near future, the right to burn hydrcarbons will be rationed. Speed and space are luxuries that I expect to command a premium price in the near future. Planes might run on methanol, as it packs a higher portion of hydrogen than other hydrocarbons. And, unlike pure hydrogen, it is liquid at room temperature. Future planes will be likely slower and lighter. The shapes required to get lifting body do not hold cabin pressure well unless constructed much heavier than a simple tube made of the dame material.

It is a very good point of view. With respect to supersonic airplanes, at first, like any new technology, it will be difficult to massify it (perhaps in the future we can give our followers a ticket on the supersonic boom😉). When we see simulations of the cabins of the future, it is because they will be able to better understand the materials and will have different forms of construction, Airbus is investing in the development of quantum computing precisely for that.
