Seth was honestly one of the nicest guys, man. I met him at a Crazy Town show in 2019 when I was in a pretty bad place and he treated me like a really good friend. I hung out with him the entire night and he told me stories about touring and music and then at the end of the night as I was leaving he ran after me and gave me a free Crazy Town sweater. It was one of the best nights ever. He was super misunderstood and I'll always defend him. RIP, Shifty. 💜🙌🏻🎤🦋⭐🎵

What a cool story thank you for sharing,I remember seeing a video of him he looked like he hit rock bottom?
@krimsonmusic26 күн бұрын
@@bubblesdelight Yeah, I'm not too sure what all happened with that. That was all after I saw him. When I met him he seemed really healthy and happy and he sounded great. He was a little scraped up cause he told me they had hit a moose on the road a few days prior, but otherwise he seemed to be in good spirits and everything. He was nothing but kind and awesome to me so I have no idea what led to all the drama that followed. 🙁 I'll always just choose to remember him as the guy who went above and beyond to be cool to me. 🥹

Compasion is the word your looking for Scott. My little Sister passed away at 32. It about destroyed our family. It tore us up. Anyone that has an addict knows its so hard to watch people go through this. Unfortunately I did not know My Sister would die of an accidental overdose. I had no idea she was doing the things, she was doing. Her death made me feel so guilty. How come I didn't see things or know she was doing drugs. I would not wish anyone to have a loved one with an addiction problem. It's hell.

As a Chemical Dependency Professional you are absolutely right, addiction IS a disease; like most cancers it can go into remission but there is no permanent cure. I counseled teens, really tough😢
@brdnl329 күн бұрын
Yes , that day .. that day doesn’t happen that often for the good with an addict and on top of that you should celebrate addicts who have overcome and not died because they couldn’t persevere .. the guy had a kid and that should overcome everything !! Stop putting famous singers on a pedestal when they are just flawed like the rest of us

Completely clean and sober for 6 years here, after 20 years spent shooting speedballs and almost losing a leg due to injecting into my groin. Haven't touched any ever since, even stopped smoking cigarettes and I miss none of it. Absolutely none of it. So this 'lifelong' thing is bullshit imo. If you're truly sick of that life and the pain gets bigger than the chemical relief, you will kick it for good. You really have to want it.

I just turned 51 years old and both my parents were functioning addicts my entire life. My mother quit cold turkey on her own and the only reason that my father quit was because he got Alzheimer’s and forgot everything in his life including his addiction. He died without answering the questions that I needed answers to. He went to a Catholic school for his entire education and he was molested as a young boy and he was the kind of man who would never talk about it and never seek help, he just hid his pain in his addiction. I hated him for most of my life but when I found out about his childhood I forgave him because so many addicts hide from their pain that way. RIP to all the amazing people that we have lost way to young from this horrible disease.

Scott, opening up like a book here: I'm 14 years sober from H. Every single day of my life if not every single waking hour I don't think about it. How much I loved it, how great it made me feel, how just shooting one more time to feel that loving embrace, it is truly a battle for life! How I have not relapsed is well beyond me. I pray to God everyday that I do not relapse, but when life gets hard, it really starts creeping in. It is the ultimate escape from stress, but it is no excuse. Shifty's battle is close to my heart, and it sucks that is no longer here with us. Thank you for honoring his legacy! So many people judge addicts because they don't understand. They don't understand because they've never had to deal with the struggle. It almost always starts off with a doctor writing you a prescription for opiates, missing all the warning signs, upping your dosage, then switching you to stronger pills, and so on and so forth and when they finally do see the signs they cut you off cold turkey! Sure, some people can do it once or twice and then put them down. There are other people, like me, who used to fight our demons. I urge everyone in this chat to please not judge addicts, active or in remission. You will never understand what the next person goes through or has gone through, and it could easily end up being you. I would not wish this disease on my worst enemy.
@itsdrobunny25 күн бұрын
Every word you wrote sounds like me. Thank you for sharing. It is an hourly struggle! I am almost 6 years off H and I don't even know or understand how I've been able to do that because it is constantly on my mind...the battle is for life!

I'm 8 months sober from alcohol and going through treatment, they ask us if addiction is a disease or not. What we come to is that addiction is many different things. It can be emotional, mental, and physical, there is some things that are worse than others in the drug and alcohol classifications. So when you say addiction is a disease. Instead, it should be framed in a different way. Addiction can be a disease, is what my opinion is. But there is just so much that plays a role in addiction. It is a true many people don't have compassion or empathy when it comes to addiction and Yes most people have someone in their family or friends that are dealing with addiction. Thanks for putting light on this issue, it needs to be discussed so it can get better.

I’m 8 years sober from alcohol. I was never physically addicted. Very functional til I was home from work. Being in a band and always at a bar didn’t help. If it was present, I partook in it. I was very mentally addicted because I have bipolar and had not found the right “cocktail” of meds. Once I did, it was easier to stop. I drank hard for 25 years! As to if it’s a disease? I think it is. I come from a lonnnnnnng line of Irish alcoholics. There is a genetic disposition to alcoholism. Obviously you can get physically addicted and I was lucky I didn’t.
