Great video as always. When I played Gauntlet it was with two tape images so pretty much the same process but I needed to add the 1st & 2nd tape images before loading and switch between them when prompted. Yes, save states are your friend in this instance :-) Keep up the awesome work!

Appreciate all the informative videos! It’s nice to be able to add your own games but I wish there was a safe,trusted and legal retro store where the big developers and whoever owns the rights to games now allowed people to purchase and download the ROMs. At the moment I rely on companies like evercade, RGL, Nintendo and Xbox etc to provide a safe way to play the older games but never sure how long their services and availability will be.

Yup I bought about 3000 ROMs about 25 years ago, they transferred no prob to the usb in the a-z and # folders. 👍

It's ok for people that want to play a quick game on the Speccy. I tried it for a couple of hours, many games didn't work, so I went back to my NGo and my original Spectrums. I hope it improves over time, and maybe they consider releasing a +3.

If you haven't already, it might be worth trying to have the custom ROMs loaded. The Sinclair/Amstrad ROMs are available online (obviously for those who already own an original Speccie.... 😉) and these can ensure certain games will run.

Awesome video. Extremely informative. I’m an English born American and LOVE the ZX Spectrum. I’m visiting British family this Christmas from Chicago and my wife arranged for the Spectrum to be delivered for my big Christmas present 💝 I have a couple questions I wonder if you or your viewers may know the answers to. I’ve tried googling but am getting conflicting (or no) answers. 1) What would you recommend for a USB joystick for playing speccy games on this console? 2) I really want to play it now at my Dad’s but I saw that you choose the display Hz during setup. If I choose 50Hz for my dad’s English TV will I have issue later when hooking it up to my TV in America when I go home? 3) Do I have to “flash” my USB stick? I’m not sure what that means. I know how to format the stick to FAT32 - is that good enough? Any help from you or the community would be super appreciated. Merry Christmas, folks!

Nice video! By the way, I'm having some issues with "Psycho Soldier" game when I'm prompted to Start Tape. It happens when I clear Level 1. I've tried the different tape options from the menu but none of them worked...😮😮

No one has made a video that I can find of adding the original spectrum machine ROMS and seeing how they work. Not games, the actual ROM “operating system” for the various machines. I’d be interested in that. What functions of TheSpectrum does say a 48k or +2 rom affect.

Isn't the joystick control options the major blunder with The Spectrum? From having viewed other videos it's apparent that regular USB joysticks are largely incompatible, it lacks any Atari joystick port/s for old school joysticks and so needs one of their proprietary joysticks which appear to have plenty of mediocre reviews. Also, they haven't even included one such joystick in the box.

- First, I do wish they would update TheC64 to implement more controller support because NOTHING works properly, not even a simple 8BitDo AND that they would add the GameSettings option to TheC64 as well so you don't have to go to your PC to create custom controls using CJM files. - I use a *Sandisk usb 3.0 128GB* formatted to ExFat32/MSDOS _(Apparently this can ONLY be done with a Mac)_ and use this for all the mini consoles _(I WILL split them up in the end)_ I also have a couple of 256GB Sandisks but these can not be seen by ANY of the mini devices and my TV will CRASH and turn OFF when I insert them, so 128GB is max, lol. - Make sure a single folder does not contains over 256 files _(I'm not talking about the files you can see on the C64/A400/A500/Spectrum, I'm talking about what you can see on your computer, because of the .CJM .UAE etc I'd recommend only 128 or 85 GAME images max)_ (Ex)FAT32/MSDOS will become unstable and devices like minis, beamers, TVs have issues showing over 256 files. If you alphabetize your games you should only get the 256+ issue on the Commodore 64, lol. - Filenames that are too similar or contain strange symbols can cause issues on (Ex)FAT32/MSDOS and will cause various systems to create additional _ files and even break files. These "mysterious" _ files are removed when you move some of the files into different folders or rename a file or 2. - Yeah, even I keep on pressing the wrong button when I want to change folders, lol. - I do wish, and maybe it's hidden, that you could add an ICON to each filename. For instance if you add _IPF or _ISM to the filename the Mini console will show a Platform or Smup Icon.
