Have you ever tried this on a very humid day or a rainy day? In theory, I think it should also give a better range since the atmosphere is saturated with water. (I'd try it out but I have a very old car that doesn't have any of these fancy stuff) Good video, good presentation. Awesome.

Thank you Birenda. 💯👍 Your suggestion is worth a shot. 👌 I live here in South Florida and is really humid pretty much all of the time. But I have never tested it and see if there is an actual difference when its raining. Gotta try that one of this days.

GREAT VIDEO! I would like to add that the key fobs are just fm transmitters. They are line of sight whereas am is not. It’s terrestrial and thus on clear nights one may pick up an AM station over 100mi away. FM requires line of sight and thus when you got up on the balcony you became an FM antennae and thus increased distance. Why I never thought about using my head as a damn conductor-idk! Haha! Wait. I have a shunt that drains excess fluid off my brain. I wonder if I can beat your distance? Seriously. Or maybe it’ll be worse?
@CrazyCarMods
@CrazyCarMods 4 жыл бұрын
Yes Am frequencies travel farther. If you where to try it. In theory you should get more distance. My girl and I where messing around while recording and thought. Would 2 heads together increase the distance over one head? And it did 😂. We didn't test out how much more but it worked. It was funny 🤣

Back in the 70s, living in the L.A. area, I used to pick up Wolfman Jack coming out of a radio station in Acuña, Coahuila Mexico. The station was XERF and everyone called it The X. They broadcast with 250,000 watts on the AM band across the river from Del Rio Texas.
@BonzoFan1
@BonzoFan1 2 жыл бұрын
Stations in the U. S. were only allowed to broadcast maximum 50,000 watts daylight hours only. At night they had to drop down to 5,000 watts, the same as now. But not The X! Needless to say, The Wolfman walked over all stations at night. It was amazing. ZZ Top did a song about it "I heard it on the X".

The RF energy (or radiation... ooh scary!) from things like cellphones, Wi-Fi, RF remote controls, etc. is "non-ionizing". That means it is too low in energy to dislodge electrons from atoms. This is very low energy, and you're pretty safe with that. The radiation levels you're exposed to from just walking around is actually significantly higher. The radiation from things like microwave ovens (if you're *inside* one), radon gas, some cosmic rays (gamma for example) and sunlight, and even the light from your desk lamp are "ionizing" and have enough energy to do damage, through heat and other means.

How can moving 1 step back increase the distance by 1 meter? You are taking about 1-foot?
@CrazyCarMods
@CrazyCarMods 4 жыл бұрын
If you notice roughly on minute 7.22 I have markings on the floor, which I measured with an actual measuring tape. Also I am 6'2 and yes, every step i take is roughly 1 meter. I measure like this all the time to estimate square footage on a room. (I remodel homes for a living). If you try it out, you will see that any method will most definitely increase the distance from your key fob. Hope that helps, Thanks for Watching 👍

At the 7:23 mark you say you’re standing at 50 feet and then with the very next test at the 8:20 mark you say you’re standing at 50 meters. This could also be part of the confusion.

The main point is to lock your car or to make sure you locked your car. Or may be when someone lives in an apartment complex and may be you forgot something on your car. So when the other person that lives with you gets home, you can unlock your car and this way you Don't have to go down there. Thats actually one of the main reasons I was testing the key fob from the 4th floor. It truly comes in handy.

So I happen to be a electronic tech myself, and my knowledge of radio I would say is probably above fair in nature There are some things that I wanted to throw in here the idea of water in our head or liquid in this case does have some substantial meaning in this understanding he’s technically referring to the ventricles in our brain, which, of course, carry spinal fluid and radio waves are going to react Just like the water bottles I don’t think that it’s going to react in terms of being a conductor, but rather a reflector you’ll notice where he’s not actually holding the transmitter on the opposite side with the bottle in the middle. He’s actually holding it on the side or on the top or bottom just try to pretend that the radio signal is a light wave and yes, light can go through water, but there’s going to be defraction And light is going to become weaker The other thing I wanted to point out Gatorade bottle claiming that salt is the issue here I can tell you that in fact, salt is a better conductor, however, radio waves are not getting conducted by the water or liquid in this case because if they were it would be working against the situation. I would more to believe that , and shape of that bottle is more in what we understand to be resonant or closer to resonant frequency in this case reflection and I would plain water in that Gatorade bottle to determine this The rule here in radio waves is that line of sight. I guess up to 20 miles or so maximum is guaranteed to give you a straight shot of connection. Granted you have enough power to make the trip so when you’re on the ground radio waves are going to be absorbed or even reflected, but with loss off of the ground, obviously when you’re high up in the ground, you don’t have to deal with those losses, which is exactly why we put our radio transmitters on the top of mountains Aside from all this to be somewhat educational and entertaining, especially putting the key fob underneath your chin with something that a friend of mine in college had shown me back in 1996 I have to also add that the only reason why certain situations with these bottles or even our body are able to seemingly extend the range of these radio waves is because there’s one simple rule regarding radio, depending on the element of antenna and it’s basic design there’s going to be specifications that determine Which way in which direction the signal comes out if you alter that and narrow that direction, it’s going to weaken the signal in one area, but it’s additionally going to amplify the signal in another area. This is all part of the design and understanding of different antennas that we make, so yes by blocking in one aspect, it can cause amplification in another aspect. It is very complicated but there are rules that describe this.

@boots7859

Go fill your bathtub up, and then lets test your theory by dropping a toaster in it.... Almost all water on Earth is a great conductor. The ONLY water that isn't a great conductor is one of the forms of PURE water, like de-ionized, or distilled. Water purity is measure in some instances via Conductance, the opposite of Resistance. Since most water is in oceans, lakes, streams, water pipes, it is not pure, and thus conductive. Water not being a good electrical conductor is true in only a very small number of situations, and there's always some Physics/Chem 101 Gold Star student like yourself wanting to look like smarty pants.
@CrazyCarMods
@CrazyCarMods 3 жыл бұрын
You want to be a volunteer with pure water in a bathtub and then we drop a toaster in it to see what happens to you? There is impurities all over. Sure it does, though in correct antenna design the length should be tuned to the frequency. So, to improve an antenna you typically increase the length in multiples of its original length. Not all multiples will increase signal gain, but if you know what you're doing, you can certainly increase gain by increasing antenna length.
