It's 3:00am in the morning. Listening to this, I'm so depressed. Where have all our heroes gone? Who do we have to look up to? What, our corrupt, stinking politicians in Washington? Our drug addicted "movie stars?" Where are the men who would give their lives to accomplish a goal ... do the impossible, for what they believed in. Our heroes are gone.

We were #1 in space technology. We had the shuttle, the finest space vessel invented. Now what do we have? We have to rely on Russia to put our people in space, and given the recent events in the Ukraine, I'm not sure that's a good thing.
@MrSmithSAH10 жыл бұрын
mattwestuk1 Actually... the Shuttle wasn't so great, Saturn V could carry more cargo for a cheaper cost and also could technically go all the way to Mars with it's fuel supply (If you don't account for electricity and food), but with SpaceX taking NASA's place when it comes to next-gen rocketry, we'll be the tip of the spear in a few years
@mattwestuk110 жыл бұрын
***** This is true - the Saturn V is by far the most powerful machine man has built and was a beautiful machine. However, to me, the fact that the shuttle could not only deploy a payload but also recapture it was impressive. Also, the shuttle is still the only re-usable space craft in existence. All of the American space vehicles had their own merits, I was just stating that to me, the shuttle was extremely elegant.

And sadly there are people who think the amazing people who went to the moon didn't go there at all and that the entire Apollo program was all one big lie. 7:41 the legacy of Apollo is when a group of people sees a challenge, human beings can accept a challenge and chart a course and do just remarkable things. Buzz Aldrin

Recall that this was the "get it done" generation of men. They didn't whine and complain about how it couldn't be done, like we do today. They saw a challenge, decided to overcome it, and just did it, no matter what it took. I'm fortunate. I'm fortunate because even though I'm more part of the "newer" (and doubtful) generation, I know the feeling of what these men had. And whenever I've set my mind to absolutely accomplishing a goal, come hell or high water, I've always managed to accomplish it. When many men get together in agreement on a single goal, there's nothing they can't do. This fact is confirmed and illustrated even in ancient texts.

@@_Andrew2002 Can we all be honest here that if we actually do go to Mars it'd be amazing. I'm not sure if either of you are of aware of NASA's budget and how many times it has had to switch gears because some president decided "Oh we need to do this instead" They never increase the budget and they never not change the plan. NASA can't get anything done unless it is in full swing for Mars exploration. Once the first man has gone, it can't be stopped. But good luck getting the first man there, because the chances of the next president saying we should do this and change the entire program is very likely. We need one president who can get NASA to stop fucking around and push forward. Enough delays enough changes of plan. Give them the damn funding. They have the willpower but they need the money.

@CrazyHeliDude10 жыл бұрын
What do you think about some of the tracks to the score for the movie 'Oblivion,' by M83/Anthony Gonzalez/Joseph Trapanese? Personally I think Zimmer met his match in light of some of the arrangements. Specifically, "I'm Sending You Away." Personal Opinion.
@Pekingesejedi10 жыл бұрын
***** Hello again...different forum.I cant say I've ever hear "Oblivion" because I'm not a Tom Cruise fan anymore.But Not that I think Zimmer is ALL there is.He's trained a great deal of other talented up and comers like Harry Gregson Williams,Ramin Djawadi,John Powell to name a few.
@CrazyHeliDude10 жыл бұрын
Pekingesejedi Yeah Cruise isn't really "playing with a full deck" anymore. Still, loved the movie and thought the writing and plot was pretty good. That "I'm Sending You Away" track just gets me for some reason. I love a lot of Zimmer's stuff ... big fan of his. And all his proteges seem to do great on their first time out. Klaus Badelt and the new version of 'The Time Machine,' etc. - Probably my favorites, 'Crimson Tide' first and perhaps 'Inception' second. But I will also have to acknowledge that John Williams was the master of masters, in my opinion. had almost all his soundtracks as a kid, from the 70s and early 80s. The flutters, the complexity of the intermingling of instruments in unexpected ways. I don't think he has any equal to this day.
