I have a creaky bike, well more like a popping and clicking bike. I show how I fixed the issue.

I just bought a bike a month ago and i was so worried abt this sound this video has relieved me from the streessssss i thought my frame is cracked 😭😭😭
@MongoDan3 ай бұрын
Glad I could help! It is never a bad idea to make sure you track down and correct any click or tick you hear. I have personally cracked a few frames and the sound is the same, though no need to worry is you do solve what is making the noise. Sometimes it can be really helpful to have a friend help to listen and pin point the noise.

I find the easiest way to remove cranks is to flip the bike over. Much better leverage and hand space.
@MongoDan11 ай бұрын
That can offer better access, but doing so can scratch the other parts of the bike. That is the main reason I leave the bike rubber side down.

@@ethantang6282 it is really too bad considering the mountains just north of the city would be amazing for mountain biking. The dirt there is good 👍

I recently got an emtb, and the crank area began to click every pedal, I changed both the crank arm bolts and it reduced the clicking sound siganificently... I tried to pull the crank arms to opposite direction and there's still some give comparing to my road bike which is no give whatsoever... I only bought the bike for a month, is it normal to have a little bit give? Thanks!
@MongoDan Жыл бұрын
I dont know what bike you have, but if cranks bolts loosen it can cause damage to the crank and the issue will never fully go away, keep the crank bolts tightened to the specs. For the cranks having more give, that is possible, I have had a few cranks in the past that are certainly much more flexy than others. The Easton EC90s and Raceface Next SL G5's both felt like wet noodles compared to my other cranks I have ridden and currently own. I normally find Sram and Shimano cranks to be the best, but Raceface alloy cranks are solid as well.

Thanks alot, what is the purple part holding the chain ? Is it useful ?
@MongoDan2 жыл бұрын
That is a one up chain guide, it helps keep the chain on the ring in really rough stuff. I actually have a video on my channel that goes into how to install one.

Any kind of grease will work or do I need a specific bike grease?
@MongoDan2 жыл бұрын
I'm a fan of either Bel-Ray blue marine grease or Finish line Teflon grease. A tub of either will last basically a life time unless you are in a shop. The Teflon grease stays put a bit better but the marine grease is super cheap for the size and is totally water proof. Anything else you would like to see in the channel?

@Pedal Repair yeah. A video on, why not to buy bikes from Walmart. Lol
@MongoDan2 жыл бұрын
@@jdubdoubleu it is was anywhere near a Walmart I might (wrong continental currently) but I try not to discredit any bike what what it actually is. I used to work on Walmart bikes all the time and they are ok for basic transportation. Most of their issues stem from poor assembly.

Was the click once per revolution or more? Tks.
@MongoDan2 жыл бұрын
Pretty much one click per revolution like in the video, but it was rhythmic with a click twice per revolution as well under certain conditions.

@@PanyingPilot no problem. One thing I will add is that finding the creaks and clicks can be a real challenge on bikes due to how parts in the same area often make the same types of noises as well as how sound travels through a bike frame. Sometimes it can be helpful to have someone ride next to your bike and listen as it can be more telling than you trying to listen for the same noise.

Can you add crank rings to a new to you bicycle?
@MongoDan2 жыл бұрын
It depends on the crank
@danmccabe20042 жыл бұрын
Does the chain guide not just lift up , most do.
@MongoDan2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, you can lift it up or flip up the outside part of the guide. If this was a crank that has the spindle attached to the drive side I would have needed to do that.

mine makes squcking sound after driving aroun 1 km why could it be?
@MongoDan Жыл бұрын
It's probably either the seatpost or bottom bracket that needs to be removed and cleaned. Unfortunately, sometimes it's just a guessing game, but cleaning the right part will almost always fix the issue.

Why am I scared of doing this myself. Looks easy but I might manage to make it worse, aargh! 😆

Which cranks do you have? Most cranks are not at all difficult to remove or install. The only issue people run into is that it's normally the tightest fasteners on the bike.
