Loved this video! Do you happen to be cleaning the glass bed every time you print? Thanks!
@Keep-Making3 жыл бұрын
Great to hear Sarrah. Well my rule of thumb is that if I know it's dirty ie i'm getting failed prints then I clean it. Usualy I just make sure I take all the dust of with a very clean kitchen paper towel before use and then i'm fine. I think in a year with about 50 oh prints I've only cleaned it 6 ish times

Very good video, especially liked the paint covered fingers ;-) For PLA I use a unheated base machine, though my old chisel isn't as smooth on it as your scraper!
@Keep-Making5 жыл бұрын
Cheers Andrew, Glad you enjoyed it... Ya the paint was the last touch-ups of the workshop 😂. hmmmm I'll have to give it a go unheated as I've never done it any other way. I guess I've just followed the trend a bit blindly there.

Thanks for the instructions. As a starter, it was easy to follow (had to pause and slow the video 100s of times ;)) , although it took me quite some time to set everything up (I had to manually bring up the Z-endnote because the plate was too high and I could not lower it with the wheels beneath the plate) and eventually print the benchy. But it worked! A great and smooth benchy!

Idea's anyone? I have the CR-10S printer like you. I noticed you did NOT choose the CR-10S in the Simplify3d drop down menu, but you chose the CR-10. Aren't the CR-10 and the CR-10S printers different? There is also a CR-10s PRO in the list too, but this is also a different printer.

Hey, it's my 2nd one. That I have owned. I did use to have a zortrax m200 but that is one hell of an overpriced closed system printer. I'm really happy with my CR-10s. I did have to send back the first one I got from amazon tho... It came with a broken thermostat on the printer head. A small 10-day delay but the second one has been working beautifully. I would recommend it myself for sure. Just make sure you look at 3d printing as a hobby that will get better with time as there is quite a lot of settings to test out and wrap your head around.

Just got my CR-10s and you video was very helpful, thank you! Do you normally run the printer with the clips on the bed? Did you ever end up using the glue sheets provided to adhere the bed? Thanks again!

Hey Keith, I'm so glad the video helped you out. I use it with clips and I still do all of my prints with pure clean glass and I have no problems with it. The real key to it all is to be super clean, No dust not nothing.

Hi! First of all thank you for this video. My 12 year old son asked me for this printer and when it came I was able to put it together bc of your video:) I know nothing about 3d printing. Quick question…. There was no option to level the bed on the lcd screen. I saw that we probably need to do a firmware update but the printer is not next to a computer. Can u recommend an affordable laptop that I can buy so we can do the firmware update??

Hey Christopher, From what i'm aware if you want the sensor it's one way and it should be a little stiff as you as pushing apart a connection with the filament.

wow... this glass is not flat. when I set the corners to 1 sheet thickness, the middle is 3 sheets. I flipped the glass and set the corners to 1 sheet, and now the nozzle is tight against the glass in the middle...
@Keep-Making5 жыл бұрын
Ah the infamous cheap glass... I was lucky that I only have about a 0.2 - 0.5mm change in layer hight on mine which i'm more than happy to just over extrude in the first layers to compensate. In all honesty, you have 3 options. 1. Do what I did. 2. Buy better glass, most people swear the best are Ikea mirrors. 3. Follow this slow and painful ( and in my opinion painful) process kzbin.info/www/bejne/Zpucl5Rua8-crJI ( I hope that helps ) Remember to approach 3d printing as a hobby that will get better with time.
