Overall I think both printers are pretty good but need some updates, what do you think? Have you used either one of these before?
@stew67510 ай бұрын
You have the older revision of the Qidi. The newer ones which have been shipping since mid-November have updated print heads that solve the clogging issues, and just better part cooling overall. Also has an inductive level sensor instead. What's odd is that Qidi keep sending the old versions to KZbinrs to review when they have had the newer models for almost 4 months now.

In fact, I think I saw something about QIDI already posted on their ins channel last October. Maybe it's not that QIDI has been sending older versions to creators, but rather that this content was posted so far from the time it was received on the machine.🤔🤔🤔@@stew675

Excellent video! I have both machines, and my only complaint with the k1 max has been the bed. It is so warped that im tired of dealing with bad first layers. I emailed creality last week to see if they will resolve the issue. I have only had it a couple of months. They still have not responded. Other than that, i love it. Have it rooted and use orca. The only complaint i have so far with the xmax 3 is the filament sensor, stoping long prints for no reason and loose bolts. I had loose bolts on the print head and on the frame. Good machine other than those small things. Thanks for the vid, you got a new subscriber.

We seem to have the same complaints hahah but I do think they are both good printers each with their own downsides. I have about 50 hours into the k1C and it’s been great actually. It could be the smaller bed or they updated something but the first layer has been far better.

I was about to comment the same thing on the k1 max. I've tried everything under the sun to make it level and can only get it to a variance of .56 on bed mesh.I have both as well but I don't have any of the QIDI issues you have. Also my QIDI has a variance of .1 which is nuts.

I love my Qidi X-Max 3, the only issue I've had was loading an old filament that I forgot to dry, it broke inside the extruder while loading which required me to remove the nozzle to remove the clog. It's a beast, been running no stop for 4 months, Carbon, Pet-G, ABS, ASA with perfect prints, I really don't use regular PLA in it often, I reserve PLA for my Bambu Labs A1's.

Man I wish I could figure mine out. I plugged it in, put the black filament in, and did the leveling. Then tried to print the little test boat and all I got was a big mess of string everywhere. I have no clue how to work this thing or the app. No clue on temps or anything. It didn’t come with much for instructions. I’m a beginner though.

@Luciddreamlbj I just generally feel like you climbed Mount Everest for your first hill, lol. Any 3d printer is going to feel like doing voodoo rituals to get it working right when you're a newbie in the field. I've been doing 3d printing for over 10 years now and just tonight I had a revelation about warp on my Esun ABS+ prints and realized I've been thinking about it backwards - I need LESS total heat not more. So counterintuitive but there it is. These things will school you FOR LIFE. If you're making spaghetti, then one of two things is happening IMHO: 1) Your base layer is not sticking to the bed. Watch it closely as it starts printing and if you see it just peeling free as it goes, there's your problem. Actually so many print failures come down to that base layer, since all other layers are using it as a foundation. 2) It is possible that your extrusion is hit and miss, as in the filament is not flowing continuously. Any time extrusion stops, it leaves a gap, so the next layer is printing with nothing under it to bond to. Same deal as a bad base layer but it can happen anywhere in the print. Work on that base layer first. Once you KNOW you have a good, solid, clean base layer, then you can move on to the next problem and next problem.

@@jankof76 I'm leaning very strongly towards this machine as my next printer. I'm laughably still using a heavily modified Robo 3D MkII which has carried me through many years of PLA, PETG, TPU, ABS, even a little nylon. It's just so freakishly old now that it's anyone's guess what's going to fail first on it. I can feel it coming, and it's just plain time to get with the modern age anyway. Was looking at the Ender K1 Max but after some reading, I get the feeling it's going to cause me a lot of headaches fixing poorly implemented hardware while for the same price I could do the Qidi X-Max 3 and get right to printing rather than troubleshooting my life away. I'm ready and capable to do any fixing I have to, I mean you wouldn't believe what I've done to my Robo 3D, but I just don't want to have to fight a new printer needlessly.

My plans are not to use the filament box on the back. I'm just going to put a fitting and tube in the chamber entry point and put a dryer on the side. Eibos (for the money) seems to be the best option for several reasons: They seem to have better air flow around the roll and they have an exit point that's positioned better for the XMAX3. Screw it.. Why don't I just design a better dryer box? One that routes airflow thru ducts around the filament while it's feeding into the printer instead of just in one place? 🤔

Great video and review 😍 One thing i do NOT understand.. the filament is on the back, ok i can deal with that and put it to the side BUT.. why do companies give you only 1 option to go either left or right of the machine.. I have a cabinet in my kitchen with 2 closed compartments and drawers to hold my filaments and a working desk to the right where my (mini)PC is dedicatied to only slicing softwarez.. I build it this way at first to fit my Ender3v2 and made the compartments extra large with an eye on the future so i can put newer machines in there when switching to a new generation.. I did that to have closed compartments so my ender would have a stable environment for heat and sound insulation. On the left side there is a wall to wich my cabinet is ankered so it can not move and it is stable to prevent any vibration.. it literaly is going nowhere since i have ankered it to the left side and back wall.. Now my question (tip) to companies that will never read this, issss 🤣 WHY do you only give 1 option for putting filament to a side, either LEFT or Right??? I would have LOVED to buy the QIDI 4 BUT now im going for either the Creality OR a Bambulab because i have to drill into my cabinet to pull the PTFE tube thru and put a filament dryer on the right/back wall.. If QIDI (companies) would have given the option to make filament enter to the left AND right they would have had a customer.. so sad.. not that they would miss me as a customer.. but you get my point 😅

Sounds to me like the QIDI-X-MAX-3 is bigger and better and cheaper. The comparison gave the Creality less criticism - for example around 14:00, QIDI - "horrible design on the back filament loader" (which is true) but the Creality had the same design (but says its ok) and moose runs both with the filament box on the side to get around the problem. Similar design, QIDI gets thrown under the bus. Not totally one sided but I think a bit of favouritism is shown to the Creality. Obviously I have the XMAX-3 and love it. lol Comments seem to show the same. My only rant is getting other accessories from QIDI in Canada. Duty etc is nasty since the acc. come from outside the country, the printer itself is already here when you order it.

Great video, I’d say most complaints I see are hobbyist user error/inexperience. The more people get used to machines like Bambu the more issues they will have because they really don’t know much about the machines themselves, abit like learning to drive an automatic then getting in a manual. One thing I would say about these machines is the aftercare, having used Creality for 5 years the parts availability is useless. Qidi on the other hand are excellent for support and availability of parts. Oh and under those plastic body panels the qidi is solid as a rock and much better built than the k1.

Im getting tired of waiting for bambu to even just announce what the next gen printer they are going to offer will have. Speculation is a larger build volume, but knowing bambu im betting the first in the new flagship printer will be build volume identical to the x and p series and the larger build volume will come later. Having been without a large build volume printer for approaching a year im seriously considering the Qudi xmax 3 for 2 reasons, build volume and active heated chamber. I print a lot in ABS and ASA and in the winter I have to pre heat my bambu printers with the bed for a while just to be able to start a print even though im im a fully enclosed and climate controlled work space. Ive also occasionally had issues with maintaining chamber temps with the bambu printers. I could add a chamber heater and still may but the biggest issue is the parts i have to cut up to print in the bambu printers. Im still leary of any of the new crop of printer though and i know from seeing the K1 max and its issues at freinds houses and shop I will not be buying one of those. But im afraid the Qudi will have its own issues I dont want to deal with either. A bed slinger also isnt an option as I dont want the print mass moving.
@TwoMooseDesign10 ай бұрын
I would love! A massive Bambu or a new generation of printers! If you print a lot of high temp stuff I would buy the qidi as it has a thick print bed that is twice as thick as the k1 max. The thin bed likes to warp especially at high bed temps. Both printers have their ups and downs but both are pretty good overall. The heated chamber in colder temps would be amazing and k1 max doesn’t have that. I personally haven’t had many issues with the Qidi. I had an electrical interference issue a few times and support sent me a new cable to get rid of that. The K1 max is great but the dang bed is my biggest complaint. Other than some sub par first layers it’s prints beautifully.

QIDI X Max 3 was the first current-gen printer I bought. Since then I've bought 3 Bambus, a Kobra 2 Max and a K1 Max. If I had to rank them I'd say Bambus first, K1 Max a close second, Kobra 2 Max a distant third and QIDI dead last. I've had so much trouble with the QIDI that it is now sitting in my shop, unplugged and collecting dust. I'm thinking about bringing it back inside and giving it another try after a couple of months, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone I liked. Yeah the spooler sucks but that's easily fixed. The biggest design flaw is the manual z-height adjustment and the BL touch. My biggest complaint is clogs and failed prints. By comparison, my K1 Max has been almost Bambu-like in it's reliability. It is currently behind me, 14.5 hours into a 33 hour print. The Kobra 2 is broken (again).
