Thanks yet again! I found this review after I had watched your review of the Creality Raptor scanner. In the comments, one can read the successes and failures that I had scanning objects with the Ferret Pro scanner. The kit that I got came with a very nice height adjustable rotating table.

Interesting product. It seems still early, but lots of potential. Thanks for reviewing and sharing. Appreciate all the TIPs. Nice to know upfront, even though I don't have a scanner. :)

Thank you! Your tips, I believe, will fix my current scanning issues I've been having scanning the Lock/Window switch cover on my 2012 FJ Cruiser. I realized with parts like that that are very thin, the Scan Ferret will lose tracking once you try to rotate it ~90 degrees. If you, like you said, start at the top then come down I think it will make a world of difference, PLUS scanning the turn table too should allow the scan ferret to be occupied while dealing with the thin side. Again, thank you.

Nice to read my tips help. Also check out my Scan Raptor video which is more recent (but this at the danger of wanting a better scanner than - so be warned ;)

@@Rcschim Oh I know about the fancy blue laser on that, not to mention the resolution difference, but the accuracy to clone the stuff I'm doing can be somewhat "flexible". I couldn't justify buying it yet....unless the Ferret Pro can't accomplish what I'm trying to do. If it works I will film it and attach it to my maker accounts. I'll shoot you a link once I get it done.

I think you're reading my mind. I've been looking into 3D scanners and photogrammertry recently. Amazing price for the technology. I want one. Link says they can't ship to the US. 😔 That Johnny Five picture was hilarious. I saw a couple of the real Johnny Five robots when I visited the science museum L.A.. in 1988. The second movie was released that summer. Really amazing technology. And the Posche 911 Carrera. My dream car since I was a kid. And for some reason, I just realized that Carrera means "race" in Spanish. Thanks for the cool video. Greetings from the USA. -Hector

Johnny Nr 5... that brings back memories from the 80ies, right? Loved it... Yes, Carrera! Check my vintage 911 sc (super Carrera from 1981) I have a video up from it. Sold it tho... not so much a fan of vintage cars and their failures;)

@@Rcschim Just saw your 911 SC video. Beautiful auto!! I hope you got a good price for yours. The price of one here in the US is about 100k USD for one in good/perfect condition. 50k for a fixer-upper... I need more money.

@@HrDux thanks to US customers since the 80ties the 911 survived! the american market was always important to Porsche! The one I had was the first one with the new (kinda ugly) bumper requirement. and this was due to american regulations regarding bumpers ;) 911s have very good value retention over time!

I really struggled scanning a plane, because too many smooth surfaces
@Rcschim Жыл бұрын
I found it hard to scan objects with sharp edges. there is where it looses the tracking - and then you're spoiled... on a shiny kitchen water outlet, i used a water spray / powder suger mix to get some scanning done (don't have a 3d scan spray) didn't try the markers yet - sure nice as well.
@jas-FPV Жыл бұрын
@@Rcschim The plane was a funjet because I wanted to print an EDF holder. The markers, I tried them but you would have needed a lot. I crumbled some paper to little „balls“ well not ball just crumbled them to any rough shape and stuck them with needles. Since I only needed to back portion I could easily ignore them or cut them later in the model
@canofanger9 ай бұрын
Use some cheap dry shampoo spray on your surfaces. It is just the right amount of powder to dull the surface and get good results from the scanner.

how much media coverage can be scanned? Can ferrets scan a complete car bumper? thankyou
@Rcschim6 ай бұрын
Yes, bumper should work, but since it is large and lots of similar looking flat surface, you need to apply some making stickers to add features for the scanner

Is this hardware tied to the app and software and an internet link? Will it stop working when Creality eventually shuts down the servers for this device or does everything run local? Ive been interested in a scanner for a while, but worried about another piece of e-waste if it depends on cloud processing on Creality servers or similar.
@Rcschim5 ай бұрын
I didn't look for other software, maybe there's some open source? As far as I remember there's no cloud processing needed. And in general you have the choice between mobile app and PC app. At least one of those options should survive if creality disappears (which I doubt). Greets!

Probably depends on your PCs wireless connection. Phones have pretty good wireless hardware (if they are recent models)

not true anymore with those killer spec wireless gigabit applications vs. maybe 100mbit ethernet cable that you have installed in your walls... but in general we also say "a Kabl is a Kabl" (a wire is a wire) ;)
@Allikten3 ай бұрын
@@Rcschimwrong, wireless will always will be more prone to interference and wired will be more reliable. Cat 8 cable can support up to 40Gbps while the fastest WiFi 6 802.11ax will typically max out at 9.6 GBPs in ideal conditions . WiFi 7 is not finalized yet and even then it’s a theoretical max speed. Nice try though
