They had a day on the calendar and it said"What would Ginger Baker sound like if he had 4 legs and 8 arms"? They played "Toad", to this day he still blows me away. If some of you don't know there's a video on youtube called "Beware of Mr. Baker", it's free, or was. What a maniac, very good video.

The Best Drum Solo Ever!
@kenhabeeb7 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't go that far, but I will say that it takes an incredible amount of stamina to play the double bass drums for that long. My ankles are aching just listening to it. I realized only lately that when I was working out on my kit as a hot-shot 18-yr old, I was using Ginger Baker motifs as if they came out of the ether. They were created by Ginger. Credit where credit is due.
@singersimon17 жыл бұрын
I would say, for the time, it was INCREDEBLE!
@dustinalldays166 жыл бұрын
kenhabeeb you can’t just deny that its the best and then not state the best solo that you think.. hah
@arminiushermann096 жыл бұрын
I would go that far. The sound editing on this version isn't as good as the others on here. Which makes a big difference, big difference. Anyone who doesn't know why this is the greatest solo an what Ginger is accomplishing here, is fucking clueless. I here many say, Ginger is the only man in the history of drumming to play the 17th prime toccata on the drums. No one is better then Ginger when it comes to his poly-rhythms an syncopations. His four limb Independence is unparalleled because he uses double bass to get more rudiments out of them not because his one foot is slow an uses it to help speed things up or just make loud sounds. As I said, the sound on this version sucks, an it makes a big difference listening to the other versions on here. I don't know, I've always went into a song with a trance like state an use my ears to tell me what's music an what's not music, not other people's opinions. An Ginger is above an beyond any other drummer there is because he's not a boom bash drummer or a drummer who can't even follow along with what the band is playing. He uses his kit as a musical instrument to what the other band members need at that particular time, not just go out an smash the shit out of the kit or how fast you can drum around the kit.
