CREAMY FRIED DURIAN + SUPER LEMAK Fish Head Curry + Lots Of Noodles: Johor Bahru, Malaysia

Starting it off with one of my favorites from Johor Bahru, Fish Head Curry. If you do not come first thing then you may have to wait awhile for this one, as lines have been known to form. However, it is worth every minute of the wait as it is Lemak-y, spicy, and packed with flavor.
Next, was an old school noodle joint. The OG uncle still isn’t running the show, but from what I could tell they are still making a good fish ball noodle. However, their chili sauce stole the show.
After a little drive out of the center, I went to a stall known for selling some fried goodies. However, it was the fried durian that stole the show. I still am unsure how they have made it that crunchy and flavorful!
Last meal is the ever so famous in JB, mee rebus! Now this place has a history and the owner is a stand up guy! He really made sure I was satisfied and I apprecate the Rojak Tauhu recommendation he gave because it was worth it! Oh and the mee rebus made me want to take a nap ha!
Lastly, I went back into town to grab a little drink of some coconut wine to help relax and enjoy another day of eating done that I get to show you all!

Some of the best meals I had in Johor Bahru were in this video! My question is, who would eat the fried durian with me? And how many would you get? Connect with me other places! The fried durian makes me salivate sooo bad. The crunch and creaminess is just too tempting! I guess will have to get 3 to feel satisfied. Hahaha. The curry puff too!

Max, the fish head curry & mee rebus are from some of the best places to eat in Malaysia - they are my favs too. Soooo delicious. And i never imagined you heading into the toddy shop. That toddy shop has been there for decades. Thanks for showing how it looks like inside. Many years ago, a lot of Indian men used to drink way too much, get drunk on toddy and caused unsightly scenes outside the shop, and sidewalks. But looks like it's cleaner now - more regular people friendly. So glad that you are eating at the right places ;)

Awesome again man. Do you think or know if the banana or durian was fried in white bread also and if it was a batter what do you think it was made of ? Safe travels Max
@MaxMcFarlin

It was just the batter, the white bread was only used for the sardine paste.

Actually you are right, there is no accurate translation for 'lemak' taste in English, savoury might be the nearest but not quite there.
