If you add the lye in a small amount at a time and stir it won’t turn orange.

Good job! Your recipe is very similar to mine only I include lard in my bars. Love the scent combo, definitely will try that! I feel that shampoo soap bars are a great alternative to store bought shampoo and for syndet bars that some folks make. To each their own. I tell my customers that there are many recipes for shampoo bars, if mine is not right for them, they still have a nice bar of soap and they should try someone else's to find what works for them. From Australia, would love the written recipe please. Great watching you. I’m just starting, I haven’t made anything yet but I’m excited to try making shampoo. If you have other simple shampoo recipes I would love to hear from you please. You make it look easy. Regards Marisa

It would be interesting to see what the pH is on this since most lye soaps are more alkaline (9-10) and shampoo bars are generally more neutral or boarder on acidic(5-6).

Rosemary oil and castor is great for hair. I use Jojoba too

If you slowly add the lye to ice cubes, about tablespoons at a time, it will stay paler. It works!!

2 Tablespoons at a time. :)

second comment, be careful when you put a towel on your scale. I think it was touching your countertop and that can throw off your weight. Ask me how I know!!!

48 hrs and its safe ? im always told 4 weeks, shampoo bar different from regular soap bar??
@oldeworldsoapshoppe9 ай бұрын
Hi! Nice to have you here. When starting out it can be kind of confusing for you. Let me explain! Yes, you want to wait at least 4 weeks to sell your soap- that is to let all the water evaporate and for your bar to harden. If you sell it after 3 days, it'll be a bummer for the person buying it because it'll still be soft because there's still water in it, and it'll melt down really fast. There are some soap making science books you should look into getting that explain a lot about saponification, the chemical reaction of it all, water content and evaporation, and much more.

It takes six weeks to cure cold process soap.
@throlyhd94483 ай бұрын
@@tinkerbell2939 cure is debatable. if your using old fashion wood ash lye then sure 4 to 6 weeks to be safe. Ive come to the conclusion now after making hundreds of cold process soap loafs/bars now that its ready to be used/safe to use after 3 days. the PH is between 8-10 after 2-3 days using regular lye beads you can get from lowes. Yes if you wait 30 days it will be a harder bar but ive tested using it at 3 days and using it at 30 days and you get about the same usage out of it. my bars get 25-28 uses/showers wether its 3 or 30 days so for me and my business ill be taking advantage of that.

But sometimes I go up to 10% with shampoo bars.

Excuse me but what you are making is a soap, having a high conditioning does not make it a shampoo, the pH of the body is different from that of the hair, a soap will never reach a pH of 4.5 to 5. Over time that hair will end up damaged and with fragrance

There are many people who love using "shampoo bars." Regarding the word "shampoo, " you're talking about the pharmaceutical word, I'm talking about the actual definition. Some people who have oily hair and get pimples on their scalp enjoy using these because it tames that problem area. Although I don't use this product every day, I use this often and love it. I don't have to have big pharma tell me what is good for me...I can see and feel the effects. Yes, I'm aware of ph. Did you also notice I said that you can condition with an apple cider vinegar rinse? Apple cider vinegar is acidic and has a ph of up to 5. You do you!

I use my soap bars as shampoo I no longer buy bottles shampoo. My hair is healthy it’s soft it’s strong,I tell people they can use these bars for the hair and it’s way better then “shampoo”
