This is perfect! I love that it has a fold over top. No lost chapstick or tops. You could also adjust the size for lipstick. Thanks Lorrie!

Just made this and I love it. Used 1/4+" x 1-1/2" velcro for closure and sewed it in before sides. 5" x 9" cut size is a little large so I used 1/2" seams (trimmed) and made a 1-1/2" flap. My large chapstick roll is 3/4" thick and 2-3/4" long....fits perfectly. Finished measurement is 2" wide by 3-3/4" tall with flap closed. Thank you for the pattern - nice video!

what kind of iron do you have? Does it automatically shut off when you set it face down? I'm in the market for a new iron and yours seems like it might be worth the extra money.

I just made 5 of these little guys! Love 'em! So quick and easy. I have several more to make as soon as I get more lobster clasps. I did increase size 2" x 2" to 2" x 2 1/4" for just a bit longer piece for clasp. Not too much difference, just enough. I appreciate your step by step presentations and "down to earth" style. Thank you very much from Minnesota. :-)

Thank you for this video. I agree. I prefer a fold over closure. Hmm. I wonder how this would do -- a little longer -- for a pen. I want to make thank you gifts for 14 nurses and this might be better than candy. Everyone needs a pen and how handy if on key chain or their name tags?

I just invested in an entry-level sewing machine to make all the fab projects in Cricut design space. I made some doggie bandanas, and this chapstick holder was my very first "professional" project! It turned out great! You instructions were great for THIS beginning sewer! Thank you! I'm not so afraid of the machine now!

Thank you for this pattern. I adjusted this pattern to be a bit smaller. This pattern can easily fit 2 chapsticks. I changed it to 4x9. And I started from the bottom corner all the way up and around the flap to the bottom of the opposite side corner avoiding stitching the bottom of this cozy. Just right for 1 chapstick. Thank you again.

Good tutorial. I made this little holster for my balm to take with me on vacation. Worked out just fine as it hung on my backpack. Instead of the snap, I used sew on Velcro just for the ease of closing the flap over a round object. You’re very clear and I like your style and presentation. I subscribed.

do you have a problem with your kam snaps breaking? lately it seems like I break more then I actually get installed.
@geraldinelombardo74345 жыл бұрын
Just an FYI. When turning corners, while fumbling around (lol) if you fold one corner on the seam and hold it there, then fold the other corner on the seam as your turning, creates a nice sharp corner!

After ironing on the interfacing or stitch witchery, do you have any tips or products you use to clean the "glue" off the iron? I would love a suggestion. I have a difficult time getting it clean.
@LorrieNunemaker5 жыл бұрын
J. Ann Miner I typically don’t get heat n bond on the iron. I’d try a water/baking soda mix and/or a magic eraser. If you notice in the video I put the adhesive side down so that doesn’t happen

Just a little suggestion. IF you have left over bias tape, you can use that for the tab as well. I'm a scrap saver. I always have leftovers of rick rack, bias tape ribbon. I feel guilt for tossing it out. I swear it speaks and says "some day you'll need me." What gets me is the darn scrap are right. Lol I Love this idea. Even great for lip gloss, lip stick, to carry a few dollars or even cough drops. My scrap material n bias tape thank you. Lol

I also save my zipper off cuts for this purpose.
@geraldinebecher77025 жыл бұрын
@@renfairegoddess My mom taught me at a young age to cut off zippers and buttons from our well loved clothes. All the fabric was cut up into 6 to 7 inch squares for washing windows, cleaning floors or whatever you needed rags for. (Before the paper towel era.) My mom made the best pot holders ever made. Insides were made from old terry cloth towels. Outer layer was from pretty fabric from worn out clothes. No heat would touch your hands with those pot holders. It's nice to know others still recyle things. I still do the buttons and zippers. Rags? Just a few.
