Thanks Jason! I actually learned something - The channel volume on the amp could have an effect on the compressor! It seems obvious now when I think about it but I never realized it before.

Same - i thought the channel volume didn't work that way. Everywhere you look ppl say channel volume won't colour the tone but surely it must, depending on how hard its driving everything after it.. Interesting

for the comparison you did at the end switching between the two, I purposely wasn't looking at the screen, and I didn't hear any difference between the two.
