Hello Jason. I am downloading your Helix template and am going to start all over. I just can’t figure out what I have done to make my Helix not work well. Love your videos and figure starting over may help. Thanks for your quick responses to earlier questions/issues I am having. You are awesome sir! I am weary of purchasing presets and have them be terrible. Those have been a waste of $.

Thanks a lot Jason. I have learned a lot about how to properly setup sounds in the Helix from your videos. Practically all my presets are based on your previous template. The other day I was listening to an audience recording of our band and I thought „yep, that guitar sits right in the mix where it should, not muddy, not shrill but clearly defined and punchy“. Much of that, I believe, is all these little things like the LA studio comp (I do confess that I put it before modulation, delay and reverb though) and the shelf eq, hi- and lo cuts and all these things you are talking about in you videos. So - thanks! The Helix in Version 3.5 is phenomenal. Hard to put the guitar down.

Thanks Jason, I so appreciate your technical solid logical approach. It is like tempered steel, that cuts through in most applications.

Thanks Jason. Interesting that your thoughts and mine are the same about so many of your little details in your template. However, I do still put in the Retro Reel at the end of the signal chain and just pull it out if I run out of DSP or blocks or just don't want it in there or think it doesn't make any difference for that preset. I think that I will keep the cab block out of the template and continue to put it in based on the amp and sound I am going for. I noticed that the paired amps are ALWAYS the Jazz Rivet cab (when NOT linked). I would have picked other amps for some of those cabs, though I really do love the Rivet cab too! I ALWAYS try to keep a parametric EQ, Low/High Shield, and compressor at the end of the chain. I occasionally run my preset through Neutron Elements so that I can tweak the Master EQ section of yours. Low/High Shelf, EQ, and cuts sometimes get tweaked per snapshot! But I (almost :-) always get the tone that I am looking for... or maybe that is just the beauty of the Helix. I love the fact that with my James Tyler Variax that I can change Guitar Volume, Tone, Model, Pickup Selection, and now Cab Mic and Position per preset. I lets me tailor a specific tone I am going for that may not be the preset otherwise. Keep up the good work!

Hey Jason - always appreciate the insights you share in these videos (and templates)! I was curious what trade-offs you'd make when tailoring this template for an HX Stomp or Stomp XL, where you are limited to 8 blocks. I'm thinking through how to get the loop in the template and add an overdrive/distortion pedal, and curious what you'd change up (maybe a separate video idea?). Would love to hear your thoughts on this. Thanks!

Indeed a great tone. Only problem I have: my plain tone sucks. I don't use the cab and amp as described in the video. I use a Marshall combo DSL40 and an Epi Les Paul which sounds normally great directly in the amp.

Love the Lo/Hi Shelf EQ trick, Jason. Most people doesn't like it because I think they miss the "thump" similar to a real tube amp, without knowing that a more "bottom endy" tone is not going to cut right in the mix. My tones alway cut in the mix thanks to this; I don't miss the thump because I try to have a consistent tone all the time and make it easier to handle for the mixing guy when playing live o during mixing recorded tracks, considering I use IEM almost all the time, it's something that any guitar player should know and do when playing through a modeller like the amazing Helix. Thanks again, man!

I'd like to clarify to newbies like me that you can prefer bass enhanced for playing at home and enjoying a big beautiful warm sound. As I've learnt in John Nathan Cordy channel, you can add a Low enhancement at 150Hz and below between amp and cab to get that bigger sound, which some relate to "less digital" or "being with the amp in the room".
@BobPaulGuitar
@BobPaulGuitar Жыл бұрын
@@Zappabain I love Cordy's channel too, but personally, I don't like his presets with that thump in the low end. Those really feel great playing alone in a room and maybe on stage using a FRFR or a cab but I prefer tweaking my presets to cut in the mix applying lo and hi cuts. I'm used to play and hear my tone like I was hearing a recorded guitar tone in a song context and really don't miss the "amp in the room" feeling, at least not yet, who know in the future 😁.

Hi, Jason. I have watched your videos many times. They are very interesting and educational. Your presets sound amazing. I know there are many variables in the equation (pickups, cables, electronics, amplifiers,...). I have tried them on my PA (JBL Eon 15), on the return of several amps and with different guitars. Why don't they sound even remotely similar to yours. ?. I also own a Fractal Axe FX-II and the same thing happened to me. The Cabs that come with the device don't sound as bright and crisp as yours do. Thank you very much for your videos and your effort.

Another great and so useful video Jason, thank you for your work. You said "I'll be talking about the stereo template delay" but you didn't... Do you have another video where you talk/explain the delay in dual cabs, please?

Where would you put the modulation effects? Before or after the "low/high shelf"? Great startoff preset! 👌

Thanks Jason. A few questions: 1. Is there a specific reasoning for the first eq value of 650hz (I'm still a noob in recognizing frequences and why some are annoying or not) 2. If you (as in subjective pov and your choices) were playing all string of an 8 string guitar fluently (a la Tosin Abasi for example), would you have to add some Eq tweaks to handle the lower parts? Or maybe you would have to review the template completely differently? Or does it depends on the tone you want for a specific situation? 3. In your template presets you didn't use the delay in the dual cab, to have one cab delayed compared to the other. I was wondering if you didn't because it's "too much" as a default, or if it would be good in general but you didn't go into that detail? I'm just learning these things so sorry if it feels like noob questions ^^;

After having updated my LT (3.50) .. and this is the second time it happened (think in version 3.01).. I observed a kinda waved drop volume, sounding like a slight tremolo on some patches .. not that obvious but anyone with trained ears can notice it.. Sometimes more noticeable like it starts quietly then suddenly jumps up 2-3db or more, and then gets stabilized at that value .. But if I switch to another patch and then get back to the one with the issue its volume gets quiet again. I may have turned this thing in every possible direction, there’s a sound problem, it’s chopped or with volume fluctuations towards the end of the sound trail especially audible when I play a chord.. And it’s happening on the same patch then it works normally!! As well as on others, then disappear then it comes back.. Have no idea if it's a physical component that's causing that and it get increased with the new firmware or it's a program random failure .. I even tried it without adding any block on the path.. Same issue.. Even used as an audio interface and played music through.. The same..

Do you use any EQ in the global settings or is all EQing done within your signal chain? If so, what do you have your cuts/boosts set at? I’m still working on my sweet spot for everything so a reference point would definitely help!

Did you ever tryed it with dt25? I know you need to turn off the box sim to use it vial6 link. My question is, how to send stereo sound to PA (from master out, with box sims), and use the max potential of dt25 with l6 link (it has direct out, but I think it's mono).

I follow this to the letter, and that crunch tone does not sound the same, and I don't think it's just the guitar that's making it different. Through my beyerdynamics headphones it still just sounds pretty much lousy. I'll never understand how anyone gets a good direct tone from the helix. It only sounds acceptable in the room.
