Hi! I am a newbie at WP. I couldn't mimic your steps. The sticky part is wide as the page, not just around the text as yours, and the glassy css doesn't seem like to take effect....

But I can't get into the site editor. I get a critical error. If I upload the original twentytwentyfour files, the site editor runs again immediately. What am I doing wrong?

Jamie, this another excellent example of how the block editor can be used to create a stunning website layout with almost no effort. You get better with each new video-tutorial to provide easy-to-understand instructions even for non-experts. Awesome. However, I am still confused what should be part of the template and what should be page content. I probably would only have placed the navigation menu, cover block, a *content block* and the footer in the template? WordPress isn't much of a Content Management System, if everything goes into the template? (Besides that the website would need additional pages anyway for privacy policy and imprint.)

@@jamiewp Absolutely, and probably easier to explain, too, than fiddling around with blocks in two different places. When it comes to separating styling and content, I'm still very old-fashioned.

Again very nice, am right now working on a very colourful one pages and love the menu. BUT would it be somehow possible to merge it into the next section? I got a coverblock in which the sky moves up behind La Provence and an animated arrow points to the next part. I would love to have the sky reach the top of my page so that the menu won't sit all alone above it in a boring strip of white (or light blue in my case.

Hi, if you still have that problem, look into negative margins in the WP block editor; I think this feature is newer than the video and I suspect it can be done now in some form via negative margins, Jamie has a video on the topic as well.

Hi Jamie, Trying my hand at creating my own website and your videos have been very helpful. I finally sat down to get my hands dirty (you make it seem so easy in your videos) but I am having a very difficult time. I want to create few Page templates (I assume these are now called Patterns). I created one roughly just to get a hang of it. But when I go to add a new Page, I am not seeing the "Pattern" I created in the list of patterns that pops-up. How do I fix this? Thanks.

If you close down the pop up and then use the block inserter icon - then click on patterns, then click on my patterns. It will be in there :)

@@jamiewp aah. Thank you. I'll check it out. I would've assumed any new pattern should/would appear in the pop-up so as to make it easy to select. Is this the only way? Cos if we were to publish a lot of pages using a custom template, closing the pop-up and selecting from the method you suggested would add unnecessary steps and time.

The equivalent to the container is the group block

@@keywordniches2207 Stack and row use flexbox, stack vertical , row horizontal. Or you can use the Columns Block which also uses flexbox. The group block is the equivalent of a div.

Great video as always but so much of your stuff is about creating or copying an existing website. There is so much more to WP. Lets see some real content about under the bonnet stuff. editing products with spreadhseet plugsin, designing a shop layout etc etc. It seems so much web content is about the design and functionality and building a real website (not a few pages) is never covered.

@@jamiewp i’m using frost theme, i followed your instructions, it’s working on the desktop but on mobile screens it’s broken, frost menu and that glass menu showing on each other. I want something like what kinsta menu look like.
