Hi do you know how to create step in automate to send out emial notification once the dataset is refreshed? thank you
@steffenmlgaardlarsen54634 жыл бұрын
This is working like a charm - But Have you found a way, where opening a new tab can be avoided when pressing the refresh button?
@HowToExcelBlog4 жыл бұрын
I haven't really investigate tbh. But I was thinking you might be able to use the power apps visual, build a simple app with only a button in it, have that button trigger a flow via the power apps trigger, Flow refreshes the dataset. This could also mean you can set who is able to use the button. Let me know if you try it out.
@steffenmlgaardlarsen54634 жыл бұрын
@@HowToExcelBlog You are right. The flow was easy to implement into a PowerApp embedded onto the Powerbi report. Around 20-minute research and implementation time :-)

Glad it worked!

Are you able to resize it so it looks just like a button and not an app with a button on it?
@steffenmlgaardlarsen54634 жыл бұрын
@@HowToExcelBlog Yep - I made a giant button that took up the full canvas on a horizontal layout. Then I put the button onto the powerBI report, and resized it as I saw fit. :-)

Hi John Great presentation much appreciated. I would like to know if you can suggest the best formula which would enable you identify counts of full and partial payment for a set of figures in a spreadsheet . Thanks.
@HowToExcelBlog4 жыл бұрын
That totally depends on what your data looks like.

@@HowToExcelBlog Can I send it through and have a look for me?

Thanks for this, very useful. Question I have is there a way to add a cool down to the request? I have a report that takes about 15 minutes to refresh and several people have access. This means I can end up with a few failed flow runs as the button is pressed before the last refresh finishes. What would be great is that if someone clicks the button within a timeframe (15 minutes in this case) the page doesn't state success but instead tells them a refresh has already been triggered at X time and they can try again 15 minutes from the last refresh.

Thank you. Is there a way to suppress the pop up window which open when refresh is clicked?

Try an embedded power app that has a button which triggers a flow instead. Also not a premium feature.

So this appears to be refreshing in a workspace. I'm looking to refresh in teams. Is tehre a video which instructs this?
@mostafa_farid3 ай бұрын
Is this also limited to 8 times only?
@HowToExcelBlog3 ай бұрын
Yes, I believe so. But that might have changed since publishing this video.

Hey - Great video. I'm a Power BI Pro User, so I am permitted 8 scheduled refreshes per day. Does a refresh via this method count toward my 8 permitted refreshes, or does it count as a manual refresh. Thanks?
@HowToExcelBlog4 жыл бұрын
Good question. I assumed it was part of the 8, because otherwise you can schedule refreshes more than 8 times a day via power automate and a schedule trigger.
@Tesza094 жыл бұрын
Sadly it does, just reached my limit after 2 hours of work.

I don't have the "refresh page" button in BI, and is it a must to have a direct query ? i don't know how to set up? any way I can do the refresh?
@lorinamuca64613 жыл бұрын
Hello! This video was very usefull and exactly what i needed. But some how i get this error when i make the refresh of the report in the service: "Data source error. It looks like scheduled refresh failed because at least one data source is missing credentials. To start the refresh again, go to this dataset's settings page and enter credentials for all data sources." Instead in power automate the run its succeeded. Thank you in advance.

Not able to trigger the flow by the report viewers with whom we shared the report. How can we do that??
@akhilholla4 жыл бұрын
For refreshing the from power BI do we need power Automate to have some subscriptions? I am getting the below error. "{"error":{"code":"WorkflowTriggerIsNotEnabled","message":"Could not execute workflow '544eb5e8-25ce-4a6f-901f-10dd8f72084f' trigger 'manual' with state 'Suspended': trigger is not enabled."}}"
@HowToExcelBlog4 жыл бұрын
Yes, http trigger is premium.
@HowToExcelBlog4 жыл бұрын
I realised, you can use embedded power app where app has a button that trigger a flow. This setup would be standard license.

Is Flow free? First time hearing and using Flow. I got this message "Your flow was saved, but could not be enabled because of billing restrictions. Learn more ."
@HowToExcelBlog3 жыл бұрын
Not all features in Flow are free. The http action in this video needs a premium license.
