@GunBlitz64 The final result may not be useful to anyone, but the steps taken to get there will be. Tutorials are rarely about what the outcome is. The steps and methods are more important.

@StarClaudio layer doesnt have an angle, layer shadow does. 90degrees casts shadow directly under the layer. 180 would be directly over the layer, and so on.

Hey I actually don't get what the angle in the layer styles menu affects? I have seen you using it a plenty of times, but i dont get how a layer has an angle?

@theMoporter yea clipping masks only do the layer directly under them, he chose the right kind of mask for the task he wanted to accomplish. If he had used a clipping mask the grunge would only show up on the Text layer.

@StarClaudio Play with it, you will see how it affects it. You can either have it go horizontal, with is 180 degrees, or vertical, 90 degrees. anything in the middle it goes to some kind of diagonal, or if it's negative the opposite.

If he had used a clipping mask the grunge would only show up on the Text layer because clipping masks only effect the layer directly under them.
