It would be a valuable design effect, although the jagged artifacts from the individual layer edges make it useless for vector designs that require significant enlargement-billboards, banners, etc. Using the Move/Duplicate tool to create large drop shadows with this method requires several hundred layers to make perfectly smooth edges, which can easily crash the software or take several minutes to render. Affinity really needs an equivalent to Illustrator's Blend Tool for working designers.
