This is a great video to make people be really aware of composition. I'm a graphic designer, and composition is the essence.

An excellent overview, with very well chosen examples. Cinema in particular is indeed an excellent way to look at composition, as every shot costs a good deal of money, so the director needs to carefully consider "WHY am I spending this time, difficulty and money to have two figures arguing on a window ledge with a helicopter flying by, or have the heroine climbing the mast of a ship in forced bird's-eye perspective with angry pirates climbing up behind her?"

So true! When that much money is on the line, composition needs to be considered like CRAZY - Mia Rozear, Art Prof Staff

This was so helpful! I especially liked the thought that there are guidelines for great compositon, but no "right answers" all the time as every story is different!

Personally, I think this lesson on composition is very important! No matter your style, you do need a sort of composition to at least makes a sort of sense!

I am trying to understand Guernica by Picasso especially how he makes the eye move around and stay within the composition. Firstly, how does he want to eye to travel and retain itself within the picture. Secondly, what methods has he used for creating the illusion of depth? Thirdly, has he used different perspectives throughout the picture and if so where and when? and finally fourthly how has he used line, tone, texture subjective elements(symbolism within the picture ), etc. thank you and kind regards
